How big and how thick would the book be if all the images were the same size?

In that case, they could have published the book on newsprint.

The whole point of publishing is the quality of the paper, the format, and the color reproduction.

Look at art books, for example, at the British Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum. They cost £30-50 and are printed on excellent paper. I'd buy one for £50-60, too.

And in my opinion, the text is very small and the pictures are too small.

I'm really enjoying it. I read a few pages every night, in order. Rather like a novel, as someone above suggested.
It caused me to watch the 'Was It Worth It Video' for the first time and relisten to the 12" - joy! Peak Stock Aitken Waterman mode Pet Shop Boys, as Neil says.
Also I was delighted to learn that of the existence of 'Being Remixed, which is now on my Discogs wantlist!

The remix 12" sleeves of that era are probably my favourites - So Hard, Being Boring, Streets, DJ Culturemix are, whilst all very much being of their Tim, still looking fantastic.

The format is the main thing I dislike about Volume. I personally love coffee table books. Volume is too much like a novel.

A pity they didn't insist on the same layout for Volume.

They actually insisted on the changed layout, Neil says in the "World In Your Ear"-podcast (near the end of the conversation). He doesn't like coffee table books as nobody reads them and they might as well just be called coffee tables. So, he wanted a book that people would actually pick up and read.

Personally, I'd have preferred "Catalogue 2", but there you have it: Making it smaller was a very conscious decision.

I'm not quite sure what "coffee table book" means, but most photos are too small in the new book. I would like to see what the track listings are on the back covers of the different singles. I know the front covers already!
