As another poster has mentioned in the Potemkun and Q and A thread, Neil let the audience attending the PSB film double bill on Friday know that he's working on a revised version of A Man from the Future with Chris. The orchestration will be more intimate, they are working with the Manchester Camerata. "Juliet Stevenson" is still in it"
Unfortunately, no-one asked a supplementary question as to whether this would be issued as a recording (I guess likely) or would also be a live event (let's hope so!)

I hope they would also record the four songs in A minor they performed at the BBC proms. The orchestra arrangements by Angelo Badalamenti was beautiful. Hoping they would release both live videos and albums in various formats.

This is very exciting. I loved being at the Royal Albert Hall in July 2014 to see and hear it performed live. Would love to see it again.

Excellent news. Thanks for sharing Sandy. I wonder if Neil's recent collaboration with Mark Springer had anything to do with the renewed interest, or revised direction?
Either way, a studio recording would indeed be welcome!

To repeat some of Sandy’s post, here’s everything we learned:
They’re finally recording the Alan Turing piece.
They’re revising it a bit.
Sven Helbig is producing it with them. Manchester Camerata are the orchestra - a smaller orchestra through choice, so purposefully not as grand as the proms production.
Juliet Stevenson is still doing the narration.

A Man From The Future is their equivalent to Beach Boys' Smile or G'n'R's Chinese Democracy.
AMFTF is now 13 years, at least, in the making.

I have to say that I'm glad they're focussing some time on this and have finally sorted the Potemkin release too.
We're also waiting for ''Naked'' in some form or another.

Wow! So great to hear that!!! I'm glad that it will hopefully see daylight!
About musical pieces, does anybody know more about the "Birdman" songs? Have we seen all that was made for it?
Also, I believe that "My Beautiful Laundrette" is complete in that EP, at least concerning the new songs, not the whole score.

I know PSB don’t agree with this, but what I prefer to hear is THEIR versions of their compositions with Neil’s vocals. My preference would be for Neil to perform the narration; though he doesn’t think of himself as an orator. My hope for “Naked” is if the music takes the form on songs that they release their versions of them rather than the cast recording. I would also like to hear their demos for other artists such as “If there was love” and “Occupy your mind.”

I wonder if this will be released as a Pet Shop Boys album or rather a Tennant/Lowe album. I think it would be weird to release it as a PSB album tbh. I always thought the Beautiful Launderette EP should have been a Tennant/ Lowe release!
Either way, looking forward to having a proper release of this. I don’t know why the BBC never filmed the performance at the Proms when everything else got filmed - would have been great to get a blu ray release of that too!
