Wow you aren't kidding! Just checked Discogs.

Love Discogs - I forgot I also had this:

I once sat at a restaurant table with MG. I so wanted to ask him about this but he was in a right mood and barely spoke to anyone.

It’s quoted as ‘limited’, anyone know how many that is; 500, 2000, 5000?

I love the way it says "MOST DEFINITELY NOT FOR SALE"! Ah, the sweet innocent days before eBay and Discogs - as if that would stop anyone. (Although I suppose you could still find that kind of stuff at a specialized trader stall down Camden Market or somewhere similar.)
I actually bought my copy of this in a chain music store that sold imports - that was back in 1993 or so.

Where I got my copy is lost in the mists of time. I didn't use eBay much, but had a contact or two who could get promos and such, so might have been them, but have a feeling this find was different somehow, so maybe I did find it in some random 2nd record store.

Do we think this is going to end up like the Amazon exclusive clear vinyl Nonetheless, which was £32 when it came out but was eventually available for under £15?

It's hard to say. I'm not entirely sure who this is pitched at. Musically, as a set, it's left redundant by SMASH, and I doubt the "casual fan" really wants to pay for a not particularly cheap 2LP set. I assume it's mostly for collectors who have been hanging out for a copy, but have been priced out of the second-hand market to date.

Credit where credit's due though... they had to the decency to wait until after SMASH to do this. Imagine forking out for this, like many of us would have, to then have the SMASH box-set come out and effectively have us buy these two discs again. As for myself, I'm likely to give it a miss for now, as I'm doing my best to stay on the right side of obsessive completism. If the price gets knocked down, as you speculate, I'll get it then.

Retro. :)

Not sure about credit being due - it makes more business sense to release Smash first. They knew that Discography would pull at the heart and purse strings and would likely sell well regardless of when it was reissued.

I just want them to superdeluxe the classic albums in beautiful boxsets before they and the first batch of original Petheads die.

Amazon Spain is not there for now. I hope they include it soon. Has anyone seen it?. the official store works very badly and I prefer to buy it on Amazon.

The blue Vinyl looks pretty good in the picture.
Although I have the original pressing, I ordered this edition without a doubt about it.
The Vinyl looks great plus it comes in a Gatrfold Cover.
You can see it in the picture plus german online shop jpc (where it sits at #1) has it listed as ''Gatefold Cover'.

The standard edition is still "a thing" on Warner Music Canada. Not seen it anywhere else either, nor any official announcement that a standard re-release is happening...

The manager (Angela Becker) of the Pet Shop Boys has been honored with an award. I can't figure out why.
They should have released vinyl remasters, Relentless, B-sides 20 years ago, if not earlier, while it was still relevant. Now many fans are already gone, many have grown up and lost interest. But they are releasing Discography. For whom?
Why couldn't it have been done in 2001 or 2005?
Did their manager advise them to do that? Their teapots are on their online store and apparently selling poorly.

To be fair, she didn't become their manager until 2008/9.

I think she has invigorated their career and is tapping into their catalogue as a legacy band. I don't agree that it's too little too late, but I think there have been some missteps:

The Electric album on a USB pin - nice but ultimately useless
The NFT (WTF happened to those?)
The teaset (yes, depsite my own personal feelings, I do actually think that wasn't a stellar idea).

Someone already replied to you, but she became their manager in 2008 and since then the Boys have been consistently releasing new content. Even if she had been their manager in the early 2000s, the vinyl industry was practically dead at that time. Vinyl only made a comeback in the last decade or so and since then the Boys have relied on it for every release.

It's not their fault if fans grow up, lose interest, and move on with their lives. And have you forgotten that younger fans exist? Fans who were born after Discography came out? New fans who can't afford Smash and maybe just want the first two LPs? Not everything is made for fans who have been here since the debut, most of whom likely already own the original pressing, which is selling for over $80 in VG+.

I understand that this forum doesn't interact much with the younger part of the fandom (mainly because we prefer different social media platforms to connect), but it doesn't take much effort to stop and think about why you might not be the target audience before commenting.

For PSB fans who are vinyl collectors who didn’t get the original on vinyl which ultimately became prohibitively expensive!
