Good stuff! Looking forward to it.
Last track in the album is a nice honor, in my opinion.

Curious how this all came about.

23 tracks? Is it a double album, or are the songs just very short?

"The debut studio album by UK rapper Casisdead, “Famous Last Words”, will be released on October 27th. The final track on the album, “Skydive”, features lyrics and vocals by Neil Tennant who recorded his contribution two years ago after a request from Casisdead. Neil describes the track as “elegiac”."

Out tomorrow!

“Skydive features a brutal, heart-wrenching chorus sung by Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant, the realest embodiment yet of Cas’s love affair with the ‘80s. “When Neil agreed to even listen to the song I was already like, welling up,” Cas says. “I know when my mum hears that, she’s gonna cry her eyes out.”

The song feels like a climax – not just to Famous Last Words, but to something altogether bigger. “Sat on the second step, the sun setting, seconds left,” Cas begins. The bars get increasingly fatalistic from there. “I knew the end was due,” Cas intones.”

Skydive is indeed a very very good song. Neil sounds great on it, as of course does Cas.

In a sense, it's his own Being Boring:
"I was in the moment, blinked, then I was old"

Then Neil comes in:
"I used to think I got it made, now I start to feel afraid
Playing back some old cassettes, Cry and Dove, some Red Corvette*
The promises you made me keep, you hear your mother fall asleep
I used to think I'd be OK, now watch me as I fade away"

"I always tried to keep you sane, to see you smile and not feel fake
I used to think I played the game, now I have to take the blame"

Magnificent

*I guess?

It must be “crying doves and red corvettes” - he’s obviously listening to his old Prince tapes.

'Crying doves' - I thought that also ... and in the Casisdead interview they do mention Prince as a reference.

Love the refrain sung by Neil ... and I am liking the mix of Casisdead's style with Neils vocals.

Will give his album a spin for sure.

Gotta be honest and say that there’s more chance I’ll listen to Winner again. I like the sentiment but not my bag.

It’s a beautiful song, I was worried Neil would be out of place, but it really works

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.
