Tina Turner
Tina Turner
R.I.P. Tina Turner (83).
Absolutely love “Confidential”. Shame it wasn’t released as the single as it was meant to be.

Re: Tina Turner
Got the news while walking along in the forest tonight. Hurried back home in tears to tell the family and we ended up having a memorial service, listening to the "Wildest Dreams" album, where Confidential is one of many good tracks (not the best), and watching some live performances and the hotel scene from the 1993 film.

Re: Tina Turner
RIP Tina. I had never listened to her version, only the demo until today.

Re: Tina Turner
I highly recommend the recent documentary on Tina. I had no idea the story of her intentional British pop remaking in the 80s. As a 46 year old she just was alway that Tina to me.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

Re: Tina Turner
Didn’t realise it was meant to be a single.
Wasn’t there another song that Neil and Chris submitted to Tina (maybe not for the Wildest Dreams album) that got turned down? Or am I making that up?
Such sad news.
Re: Tina Turner
I think he means he thought it should have been a single. Neil and Chris wanted it to be a single and were disappointed it wasn’t chosen.E-Mail Vampire wrote:Didn’t realise it was meant to be a single.

Woof.
Re: Tina Turner
Sad she's passed away.
I found out only recently from the Reels show that What Have I was almost going to be Tina Turner,
so I've had her on my mind since that. (N&T rejected the idea of using Tina and went with Dusty)
By the way did everyone know PSB have collabed with Tina Turner on several tracks?
Neil on backing vocals, and Chris on keyboards for the songs:
Missing You, Goldeneye, On Silent Wings, River Deep and Mountain High.
However when I listen to them closely, you can't tell.
Interesting factoid nonetheless, and it means they must have got along.

Re: Tina Turner
AFAIK they only worked on Confidential.
I usually play the PSB demo because that's in the list of PSB songs, but yesterday I played Tina's version and I can hear how she made this her song. It fits her so well.

Wildest Dreams is a wonderful album and has very special memories for me. Lyrics from one of the songs Something Beautiful Remains is very poignant now. For every light that fades something beautiful remains. Tina’s light will never fade
I was always amused that Neil said Tina was hoping for something like It’s a Sin from them. instead she got Confidential. Still a great song

If I thought what you’d think I wouldn’t even be here.

See how talented they always have been.?!tottenhammattspurs wrote: ↑Thu 25 May 2023, 7:35 am River deep mountain high? They’d have been about 13 when that was recorded.![]()

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Apologies, it's the live version they're credited for.domino wrote: ↑Thu 25 May 2023, 1:50 pmSee how talented they always have been.?!tottenhammattspurs wrote: ↑Thu 25 May 2023, 7:35 am River deep mountain high? They’d have been about 13 when that was recorded.![]()
