In Depth - a new fan podcast recorded by forum members

#1 Post by G_Goalden »

Myself (Graham) and Dog (Chris) have made the brave (or foolish!) move to record a series of Pet Shop Boys fan podcasts.

Prior to recording, we had only met once ‘on a wet Wednesday night’ in a pub near where we both live in West Yorkshire in the north of England. But we thought it might be fun to record the conversations as we got to know each other and caught up on 70 plus years of combined fandom.

The tone is intended to be celebratory, humorous, heartfelt, positive and upbeat. As well as sharing PSB facts, opinions, crazy theories, friendly debate and some frankly terrible puns, we also share personal anecdotes and memories, and try to bring to life the role Pet Shop Boys’ music has played in our broader lives. We are not professional presenters (far from it!) and these are definitely amateur productions, but we hope that some people might enjoy them.

We have covered a variety of subjects and the first of six weekly episodes, ‘Introductions’, will drop on Friday 26 May on all the usual podcast platforms.

In the meantime, you can listen to the trailer now, and if you subscribe, the first episode will be waiting for you on release day.

We welcome your feedback and comments and we’d love to know if there are any specific areas you’d like us to chat about, should we ever record any more. We are excited about them, but nervous too - please remember we are both complete amateurs - so calibrate your expectations accordingly and please try and be kind.

We hope you enjoy a little bit of extra PSB content over the coming the weeks.

Cheers G&C

I will definitely check this out. Would be nice to know what the beers are like. Are you real ale drinkers or lager types?

Haha - we actually recorded the podcasts in a proper studio without the aid of alcohol, although that might have been useful. But we met up prior in my local where they have a good selection of ales - I like a pale session type beer myself.

Looking forward to this. Count myself very fortunate to occasionally engage, over a pale ale, with Chris on PSB, amongst all else. I’m sure in collaboration with Graham, this podcast will be brilliant.
