So weird that people keep putting Breathing Space on their lists. One of their best songs.

I think the template for the next album remark was a bit of a throwaway comment made three years ago now. I wouldn’t attach too much importance to it. Things change.

It's a great story and the song is in three movements, three very different parts combined into one, a great work of art.

Echoing this, it's just a lovely piece of work. A great story, brilliantly told, and the music is so haunting and evocative. One of their best.

I made my excuses and left is a fantastic piece of writing "I felt i should apologise for what i hadn't heard" and "A silence filled the room, awkward as an elephant", absolutely brilliant. The whole song is a lyric masterclass imo, i am not usually fond of their slower songs but this the exception for me.

Love a lot of their slow songs Kings Cross, To Face The Truth, Your funny uncle, lovely just lovely. They have made so many great slow songs. I always find so many of there slow songs full of genuine emotion. They seem so sincere.

It's not that i hate them but i prefer the more upbeat ones, I do like the ones you name above and classics such as the Way It Used To be, but i do prefer "more banging with lasers" most of the time

PSB ballads are vastly underrated. A friend of mine thinks Hotspot is one of their best works due to the ballads on the album.

It's funny how tastes differ.
The bit in I made my excuses and left where Neil sings 'Soooooo looooong agoooo' is in my top 10 favourite PSB moments ever. It gets me every time. Same as the middle eight in E-mail - so haunting and beautiful.

Markpro wrote: Sun 05 Mar 2023, 2:59 pm This was quite easy for me but wanted to really delve into my history with the boys music to double check but my first thoughts were correct, there are a few other tracks that I "tolerate" or are a bit "meh" to me but the ones below offer absolutely nothing musically to me, and I skip them every single time.

1. Winner
2. Wedding in Berlin
3. New York City Boy
4. Ego Music
5. Legacy
6. You Choose
7. New Boy
8. Searching For the Face of Jesus
9. Silver Age
10. The Forgotten Child
Silver Age is superb.
