I asked an AI to create a new Pet Shop Boys song, this is what it came up with
Title: Synthetic Dreams
Verse 1:
In a world of endless screens
Our hearts are numb and our minds are mean
We're chasing shadows in the night
Searching for meaning in a synthetic life
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems
Verse 2:
We used to dream of love and light
But now we're just a glitch in sight
Our hearts are cold and our minds are numb
We're just a number in the great big sum
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems
Bridge:
But maybe, just maybe
We can break free from this reality
And find our way back to humanity
To love and to dreams that are meant to be
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems

Re: I asked an AI to create a new Pet Shop Boys song, this is what it came up with
It's quite good, isn't it? It's not hard at all to picture on a recent PSB album. Nestled somewhere between an "On social media" and a "Sad robot world". I especially like the first three lines of the chorus.
I've played a whole bunch in OpenAI's DALL•E image engine but haven't dipped into the ChatGPT; you've got me more curious to try.
These AI tools are so empowering, but they make me nervous as heck for human artists who make a living with their skill and imagination. I keep thinking of the advent of photography, though, and its effect on painting, and am going to trust that we'll figure out how to keep bringing humanity along into the future.
Thanks for sharing this cool result!

Yeah, ChatGPT is insane. Creating lyrics to an imaginary song is merely scratching the surface of what it can do. I've already used it, along with a few other AI tools like CoPilot and Midjourney in my work, and my productivity has improved 5x. It's going to change the way we work in very significant ways.alternativeformat wrote: ↑Sun 11 Dec 2022, 12:11 pm It's quite good, isn't it? It's not hard at all to picture on a recent PSB album. I can actually 'hear' Neil singing this..

Re: I asked an AI to create a new Pet Shop Boys song, this is what it came up with
I'm not being silly, just realistic, if someone were to write a hit song utilizing lyrics generated by this AI search engine...is it written in some deep contract details when you use the search engine and you make money off it that you owe CHATGPT a cut? I wouldnt put it past the lawyer division when they hashed this all out.
btw, I suspect this is going to totally open up a new avenue for songwriters who will simply use AI generated lyrics ...or use them as a jump off point and pick and choose what they like from a AI generated song lyric.
is it cheating on some level one could ask. this is mindblowing. those are actually pretty good lyrics, definitely not of the hacky"the sky is blue and so are you". is this CHATGPT btw? or another one

Absolutely detest this new wave of AI.
I find this poem rather obvious and plain.
But give it time and this stuff will be very hard to spot. Wouldn't surprise me if nickname was automation

I know it's offtopic, but can you explain to me what CoPilot and Midjourney tool are and how can they improve work productivity?jamie1978 wrote: ↑Sun 11 Dec 2022, 9:13 pmYeah, ChatGPT is insane. Midjourney is an AI art creation tool - deeply impressive. I use it to generate artwork for ads, marketing collateral, etc. It's better, in my opinion, than having a team of in-house graphic designers and costs less than 1% of that.DJAMIX wrote: ↑Mon 12 Dec 2022, 4:42 pmI know it's offtopic, but can you explain to me what CoPilot and Midjourney tool are and how can they improve work productivity?jamie1978 wrote: ↑Sun 11 Dec 2022, 9:13 pmYeah, ChatGPT is insane. Example, I asked it to imagine Pet Shop Boys as robots on a new album cover, and within 5 seconds it came back with these suggestions: https://imgur.com/a/PrNVisE (bear in mind, this was it's FIRST attempt, I could then refine with further prompts from there)
CoPilot helps software developers write code, it's also very impressive, particularly paired with ChatGTP - one coder can now do the work of 4.
My business is an early adopter of these tools. It's saved me vast amounts of cash. AI tools are going to absolutely kill millions of jobs and potentially devastate the economy though, and I don't think people realise it's just a few years away from happening.

I hate the fact the public image of PSB, and pretty much every other topic, is going to be absolutely swamped with fake images and fake articles and fake fan comments and fake promotional material and fake art and fake music and fake faces and fake voices and fake likes, fake remixes, fake demos, and fake sentiment.
Bots are going to absolutely flood the internet on a far greater level from here on in.
But I predict this means the internet is going to become far less useful, and maybe that's a good thing.
I'm glad Elon brought twitter at exactly the wrong time, and at double the wrong price, to see an absolute deluge of FAKE content water down it's relevance by a 1000 fold. Suck eggs, nazi doughboy.

Re: I asked an AI to create a new Pet Shop Boys song, this is what it came up with
After playing around CHATGPT and asking it to write songs about this or that, quite frankly its a bit more banal then I was thinking it was going to be. it does alot of times resort to corny and cringe lyrics.
it was also funny how fast the bots/ site admins or whatever started in with the censuring. but for a good 2 days it was kinda like the wild west and if you asked it to create a story about whatever ...man, it gave it to you...now it will tell you sorry I cannot create a story regarding depictions of wars in which humans die etc etc.
but this is a big first step, I suspect its not long till you can select say "Doctor" and you will be able to talk back and forth with a AI doctor who will be able to inform you about all things regarding health as if you are talking to an actual Doctor.

There seems to be quite a market for that though. Just ask Ed Sheeran.glennjridge wrote: ↑Tue 20 Dec 2022, 5:39 pm After playing around CHATGPT and asking it to write songs about this or that, quite frankly its a bit more banal then I was thinking it was going to be. it does alot of times resort to corny and cringe lyrics.

Re: I asked an AI to create a new Pet Shop Boys song, this is what it came up with
I asked it to write a story about the time Superman joined the Pet Shop Boys.
This is what it came up with. Pretty cool.
One day, the Pet Shop Boys received a surprise visit from none other than Superman himself. The Man of Steel had always been a fan of the duo's music and had heard that they were in need of a temporary replacement for their drummer, who had come down with a sudden illness.
As soon as Superman arrived at the studio, he donned a pair of drumsticks and sat down behind the kit. Despite never having played the drums before, he quickly caught on and was able to keep up with the rest of the band with ease. His superhuman strength and speed made him the perfect replacement for their ailing drummer.
The Pet Shop Boys were amazed by Superman's musical talent and asked him to join them for the rest of their tour. Superman happily agreed and spent the next few weeks traveling with the band, performing for sold-out crowds all over the world.
Despite his busy schedule, Superman never missed a beat and always made time to save the world from various threats and disasters. The Pet Shop Boys were grateful to have him on board and were sad to see him go when the tour ended.
But they knew that Superman's responsibilities as a superhero would always come first, and they were just happy to have shared the stage with him for a brief moment in time. The memories of their epic collaboration would last a lifetime.
