What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

I know it's a difficult question, really difficult. Because Neil and Chris are not young boys any longer. But I think PSB should try to surprise with a new sound for the new album. Something really different even in a conceptual way. Of course, they are PSB but I see they feel too much confortable with typical dance songs, electronic beats and the same style of pop ballads. When they try something different with a bit of rock or latin sound, they sound very retro.

The thing is I don't want PSB to sound like any other group than PSB themselves and I don't want them to imitate other music bands. But I think they should take some risks for a new album, an unexpected movement. I know it sounds weird but face it, PSB are repeating themselves and it's not a good thing.

Sometimes I love the idea of calling Trevor Horn again and work for a new PSB album with the classic sound of our loved pop duo. No problem with that. But before another album with Stuar Price, I prefer a reinvention. Trying to watch the future with a high quality young producer. Looking for new music sounds and working with new music elements some of them never heard before in a PSB record. Of course, all of it in a PSB way Maybe it sounds very ambitious, something very rare. But at least, they shoud try to do that and make it sounds enjoyable.

So this is my opinion, what's yours?

Please no more Trevor Horn. A young producer would be good. I would like them to try a move away from software synths on the laptop and dare I say it, using Pete Gleadall as their programmer (much as I think he's brilliant). It's a golden time for electronic musicians right now, there's so much great hardware out there. Why not do something with Eurorack?

If you want a change, and album with songs by all different producers. Both a retrospective of old producers they worked with, plus new ones. It will be hard to get an "unified" sound if they want that...but even "variety" is a valid option. And a good album title .

Most if not all of their albums have been a reinvention - you could hardly get two more different albums in a row than Behaviour and Very. And then Bilingual, a complete left turn. As was Release, the guitar band album. And Fundamental, the political album. It's what they've done all their career, what new strategy is required when it's worked up to now and changes have been rung frequently?

And please don't choose whoever happens to be hot today for 15 minutes as producer - nothing would date an album quicker. It works as a hit and miss singles remix strategy sometimes, certainly not for a whole album. Tried and trusted producers with a pedigree, though doesn't have to be one they've used before.
