Decide (Burning the Heather b-side)
This track probably deserves its own topic. Another hidden gem like so many in the career of those lovely Pet Shop Boys
Lowe on vocoderized vocals + classic dark dance music + a huge CYA remix; what have done to deserve the Pet Shop Boys ?
Pure bliss.

Great track, it just builds and builds. A bit sleazy and dark with a great ending. I love the little Synth line, it ads to the monster beat and makes it a bit lush and dramatic. The remix is faithful to the original and almost feels like an extended mix.

Waking up to this devastating news this morning.
To quote “Decide”........”oh, what have we done?”
Brilliant track though. Love how it starts off so simply then ends as a huge euphoric track!

EXACTLY THIS! They knew what they were doing. Although weirdly I’m finding it encouraging. It’s a long game song.canveyboy wrote: Fri 13 Dec 2019, 6:41 am Waking up to this devastating news this morning.

I really love it from the beginning right trough to the end. I prefer the original to the remix, but both are great.
Nice to hear Chris on vocals again. The production is very nice, too. My favourite bit is the incoming choir at 3.10 before the "it's never too late" bit.

The first song in this era that really excites me. I was a bit disappointed with the singles so far and then this brilliant track arrives. I love how it starts dark and minimal and then right in the middle it starts to change its atmosphere to end in euphoria. It's never too late!
I think it'd probably had worked as the closing track in the album and I might switch it with WIB if the initial reviews about that being bland are confirmed.

Bought the tracks this morning.
Listened to Decide on full blast in my car on the way to work.
Wow. Blown away by it.
Another b side that could be on an album.
Could easily be on Electric.

Oh this is delicious!
Agreed with the other thoughts expressed here so far
Disarmed by the orchestral opening and then slammed by one of the phattest bass-lines we’ve heard on a PSB track for eons (yes I said ‘phattest’).
Enjoying the dark rumbling techno overlaid with those electronic farts and burps.
Then building to a classic PSB chord change for a bit of finesse at the end.
Oh and just the right amount of vocals to keep things interesting ... vocoder working overtime
Neil and Chris at their best ....
Would not be out of place on the second half of Alternative I think
“Fishing!”

Absolutely brilliant. So surreal to listen to those lyrics first thing this morning while reading the news. I guess the country did decide
. Deliberate or not that was impeccable timing Boys!
If I thought what you’d think I wouldn’t even be here.

Could easily be one of the HIGHLIGHTS of Electric! One of their best B-sides ever, in my opinionstopthecar wrote: Fri 13 Dec 2019, 8:03 am Bought the tracks this morning.

Love the euphoria at the end.
Enjoyable track
The progressive 4th chord played from 3:10 onwards us so unobvious but complex and energising.
That in itself makes my day
Like it lots

Oh my, this is great. I nearly had a heart attack, was not expecting something so perfect as a b-side. Shall I say it, should have been the A side!

Re: Decide (Burning the Heather b-side)
Indeed a stunning b-side. Love it. What a track this is. Dark, cold, moody, somehow melancholic yet also utterly euphoric at the end - quintessentially PSB. We have been treated with great b-sides this era as An Open Mind was also terrific. Let‘s hope there won‘t be many songs on Hotspot worse than An Open Mind and Decide as I already feel that they should have been on the album itself.

Re: Decide (Burning the Heather b-side)
Good b-side, but definitely sounds like a b-side to me... shades of GIn And Jag (Frisky Mix), This Used To Be The Future and The Resurrectionist, with the BPM wisely pulled back a notch.

Re: Decide (Burning the Heather b-side)
If this is how the PSB interpret their "darker techno" sound, then BRING IT ON. Agreed with everyone here. This is absolutely the powerful, synth-driven, dancefloor responsive PSB I adore. AND the kind of PSB I'm proud to share with casual/non-PSB fans! This kind of track is what gets a shocking response from those folks ("You mean to tell me THIS is PSB?!"). And how great is it that this b-side goes down in that glorious discography of b-sides that get their own dedicated remix?! Not only have we benefited from stunning b-side tracks but to also have a select collection of their remixes...
