Hi to everyone
Hi to everyone
Hi to all from a pet shop boy fan.
My name is Mark, and I've loved psb music from when I first heard west end girls in 1986. Soon after that I got the Please album and 33 years later I am still playing it, along with all their other releases. Now I'm nearly 51 and have found this forum. I would like very much to be in contact with others who feel the same way about psb music. For me l have always loved the music and intelligent lyrics. Favourite track? Depends on my mood, but I really like "violence" and if course "west end girls" will always be special as it is the first psb song I ever heard. There is so much that I could go on about with the music, and I hope to. But i would like to know if there are other people like me who feel the same way about psb as i do and hopefully make good friends based on a shared love of Tennant, Lowe and all the great music and memories they have given over the years and the years to come. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Hope to hear from other psb fans soon. Mark.x

Re: Hi to everyone
Welcome to the forum!
I am a long time fan too since I was 11 - and now er.. um.. I'm middle aged!

Re: Hi to everyone
Thanks for the reply and welcome Marie loves psb.
Hope that there will be lots of happy times with other psb fans ahead. Speaking of happy times, are there fans of the boys going to see their greatest hits tour next year?
Question? Favourite psb albums?
Of course I love so much of the psb music. But the please and disco albums have always been special to me. Guess that them coming out when I was 17 and 18 made a big impact on me. A shy, awkward teenager found a love of the boys music to feel normal in. Studied the inner sleeve of please with all its photos on while I listened to the album. That inner sleeve is now on my mancave wall.
I would love to hear about anyone elses memories, love of the music.
Mark.

Re: Hi to everyone
No problem at all Markp.
Nice to see longer term fans join. (Nice to see any fans join too to be honest). We have been really lucky PSB's wise through the years. I'm not going to the Greatest Hits tour next year but, quite a few here are. There are quite a few PSB's albums I like so, it would be difficult to say what my favourite one was lol.... lol... at your mancave wall. There are many topics on the general board - get stuck in.

Re: Hi to everyone
Hi Marie loves psb. Thanks for the advice. Will be looking at the general board and seeing what is going on. I don't know how many are active on this forum. I hope that there are some people on here to share my love of psb with and make friends with. Which part of the world are you in? I"m just outside Birmingham U

Hi Markp
No problem at all.
Our forum can get very active at times. "Somehow" some one will find out a day or so before a concert is announced and the forum goes mad lol... It is lovely to see though. I think somewhere towards the bottom of one of the pages on here. (It is the one I sign in/login) it will show you how many members have logged on etc... I am glad PSB are still around today and the fans too as well.
Many share your love for PSB on here.
Are you going to the Birmingham gig? We live in Northants. U.K.

Hi Marie loves psb
I am also very happy that psb are still about, making music and touring to. I guess that it won't always be like that, but I will always be a fan. This forum has given me an opportunity to be in touch with other fans. Northants is not a million miles from where we live near Birmingham. My wife is not the big fan I am, but my daughter who is 16 likes some of the music. "Heart" is her favourite. Yes, will be going to the Birmingham gig next year. My favourite tour so far has been the "Pandemonium" tour. Loved the mix of old and new tracks. Looking forward to the greatest hits tour, but hope it won't be the last! Do you have a favourite tour?

Re: Hi to everyone
Hi Markp
We should all make the very most of PSB's.
We are very lucky as in one of the "pop" magazines they said they would quit in 1987! How gladly wrong they were. You'll soon made friends on here. It took me a little while. I am very glad and grateful that we have this forum.
We live quite near to you. I have to drag my poor mum to concerts etc... Luckily, my mum likes them too. That is good some of your family like PSB's as well. Your daughter has got good taste.
That is good you are going to Birmingham next year. Hope you all enjoy it!
We liked the Pandemonium Tour too. I haven't got a favourite tour as such but, the 1989 tour (their first big tour) was a lovely one that I can still remember bits of it (all those years ago). I must have only been around 12 ish at the time. I wished they toured nearer to us more.

We should all make the very most of PSB's.

Hi Marie loves psb
Very glad the boys didn't quit In 1987, hope they never stop making music that has been the soundtrack to my life from when I was 17!
Think that my daughter growing up with psb music playing may have had a bit of an influence on her. She is coming with me to see the greatest hits show. Took her to see Tears for Fears earlier this year as well and for Christmas we have got her tickets to an 80s festival next year.
For me though its about more than the music with psb. The lyrics of the songs are just totally cool and I love them for it. The live shows are works of art. In a kind of more toned down way (well most of the time anyway) I have been influenced by the boys in the way I dress as well. I wouldn't say I'm besotted by psb as I do like a lot of other music as well. A lot of it is electronic, synth based. But I always come back to my first love of the boys and their incredible music, attitude and I honestly love the way they have stayed true to what they are and represent.
It seems that you are a bit younger than me. Do you think the boys music has been an influence on you?
I hope you can get to see them live next year, as I'm sure it will be a great show.
Can I run an idea by you to see what you think, that I have in my more confident moment s. I often think it would be great to have an event for psb fans to go to where we could meet, dress how we want and of course it would be soundtracked by the boys music. Like a disco I guess but a psb disco. I'm thinking of putting it out as an idea on this forum to see if there would be any interest. What do you think? Would you be interested?
Have got the Electric tour on you tube while I am typing this. All is good.

Re: Hi to everyone
Hello Markp.
You were so lucky to have been 17 when PSB first started off. I was only about 11 going in to big school. Pocket money didn't buy you much in those days lol... Glad your daughter has grown up with PSB's as well and is a fan. That is nice your daughter is going to the Concert with your next year. I didn't know Tears for Fears were touring. Hope you like the 80's Concert too.
We agree that PSB's concerts are a work of art. I used to be totally besotted by PSB when I was younger. (It was bad!)
Not so much now though. I like other music too but not as much as PSB's. Most of my record/cd collection is of PSB's.
I would not want to swap it though. We are still lucky to have them. They have influenced me in my life.
Thank you for hoping that we see them live near year. We are not going this time as ££ and the stress of travelling. (We are not all that good with our health). We are rapidly becoming "pipe and slippers" without the pipe lol... I am sure you will both have a good time at the concert.
I think your idea of a fan meet up sounds good. Why don't you ask on the Forum if anyone would like to meet up before the Birmingham concert? I know fans do, do this. I also know that a big fan meet up would take a lot of organising and time. I have only ever been to one meet up. (When I was in my youth). It was the Decadance (sp?) Party at the Hammersmith Palais. Now that was good.
I really don't know if we would be able to go now though. We would have done if we were ok.
That is good you have discovered YouTube! Plenty of PSB's on there.

Re: Hi to everyone
Hi Marie
Hope you are ok. Sorry to hear that you are not in the best of health. I guess I am lucky to be reasonably ok for my age. I hope this forum helps to keep you in the psb world even if you wouldn't be able to attend concerts or possible fan meets.
I think I will put my idea on the forum to see if there is any interest and take it from there.
I am still going back and watching the live shows. It has inspired me to add to my vinyl collection of psb. I have a lot of the early stuff, but went on to CDs in the 90s. Now I want to get all purist and get the CD stuff I have on vinyl.
Do you play your collection?
What was the Decadance event you went to like?
Like you there was a time when psb meant everything to me. They still do in many ways, but I have got into other stuff over the years but i always go back to the boys for the best and most meaningful listening experience in the end.
Speak to you soon I hope.
Mark.

Re: Hi to everyone
Hi Markp
Hope you are well too. I am to too bad - thank you for asking. No problem - you are not too know at all. You are really lucky to be doing well health wise. Yes, being a member on here keeps me out of trouble. lol...
You'd have to make a thread/topic on here for a fan meet up. I know fans do, do this for events.
Sounds like you have been busy lately with your PSB collecting. My vinyl is up in the loft. Sadly, scratched to pieces. It has been well played though, through many years lol... I play cd's manly. I have got all the cd's on my little I-pod but I have got too many ear piercings now that no headphones on the planet will fit.
The Decadance event was really good. I think I was about 16/18 years old. All the fans were there and they put on one of their tour videos on a big screen that no one had ever seen before.
I was glad I went to it. It was fun.
Being a fan means a lot to me. My room was full of posters of them when I was younger. They all fell to bits in the end. I still have got some bits and pieces from years ago - keyrings and badges mainly.
Looking forward to your reply!
Marie.

Re: Hi to everyone
Hi Marie
Hope you are ok and your health allows you to do at least some of the things you like doing.
I like to hear about your psb experiences and the posters on the wall and all that stuff, so please keep going with that.
Really looking forward to the new album now as the news of its title and a new track were released today. Hotspot the title and just listened to Burning the Heather track from it. I like it and will no doubt listen many more times in the coming days. First thoughts are I like Neal's mournful lyrics and style. I wish I could be that cool, but I'm very glad they are.
I've always found that with psb music. It has the power to make me so happy and to bring the sad times to. Honestly I enjoy it as for me it reflects what life is, both happy, sad and everything inbetween.
But with the psb playing those emotions are so much more intense and powerful and I love them for it.
I would be interested to know if you feel like that or perhaps differently about it all.
Am I right in thinking you still have all your ear piercings?
I don't have any or any tattoos. Suppose I'm a bit boring that way.
Being Boring. Sounds like a good song title!
I think for me music and conversation have been my way of expressing myself. I've always thought what music someone likes is a window into their sole and how they see the world. And what conversation they engage in reflects themselves to. I've always found psb lyrics intelligent, understated and meaningful. Anyone I meet who is kind of like that is a person worth knowing.
I could go on and on, but I will spare you that for now!
Please tell me if I am going on. I do love to talk, and conversation with a mutual love of psb is wonderful to me. Of course talking about things other than psb Is great to, such as "Girls, Boys, Art, Pleasure", oops, sorry.
Do you know what I have to press to start a new topic, as what it says in the FAQ I can't seem to find. Probably me being stupid.
Just thinking of my fan meetup.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Mark.

Hello Markp If you look above under the PSB Community picture you can see Pet Shop Boys Forum< Forum Overview< Pet Shop Boys Community etc..... Click on "Pet Shop Boys Forum". Click on "Pet Shop Boys Discussion". You should if I have done this right see things like "Collector discussion" - "All other polls" etc.... Then there is a gap. Then to the left it should say "New Topic" you click that. Then underneath "New Topic" there should be another gap with "Important note regards using forum contacts link".
I have been using this Forum for a long time and it has taken me a while to find it. lol...
