Poll ends soon on your favorite "post-millennial" PSB album

#1 Post by geowayne » Fri 13 Apr 2018, 5:42 am

Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to pick your favorite "post-millennial" Pet Shop Boys studio album -- that is, your favorite released since the year 2000. If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice right there on my home page.

On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and kick off a new survey for the week ahead.

Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a marvelous weekend!

Great question. Its between 3 imo. Fundamental, Yes and Electric. I went for Fundamental. It could have been any of the three really. Super at 4 , Elysium 5 and poor old Release at 6.

Electric...energy.

Vitality not seen since their heyday.

Elysium, because of Leaving and Invisible.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

Tough not to vote for Fundy or Electric.... but Yes nails it for me. Great succinct pop songs, classic PSB, lots of Neil musings. The last three tracks make for a stellar closer. The jingly Love Etc is terrific and fresh opener. And everything in between, just a great package.

But damnit I also want to vote for Fuundy.

Yes got my vote. It’s a joyous pop album if you’re not the type to dance.
This is a song about boys and girls. You hear it playing all over the world.

I'm surprised Yes bested its rivals. It's a good album but I was under the impression Electric and Fundamental were greater fan favourites.

For me it was a toss up between Electric and Elysium. I went for the latter because it's the underdog and it's got more songs.

Elysium holds up very well in my books too.... if anything this poll highlights how strong they've been.

If you think about it, Yes is probably the most similar in this list to PSB staples like Actually and Very, which might of given it a nose ahead just through expectation.
