'Yes' and 'Elysium', will be released on Oct 20th, 2017

#1 Post by Nickname »

Pet Shop Boys announce that the second set of 'Catalogue' reissues, 'Yes' and 'Elysium', will be released on Oct 20th, 2017.

Edit: it was posted on another thread but I thought it wasn't.

Oh yes, hopefully no delays. I'm much more looking forward to this duo of albums, than Nightlife / Release / Bilingual (though this also conjuree up some great forgotten gems, but only like 1/3rd was really good).

That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

Current links to digital "pre orders" are incorrect - these are the 'old' versions. Careful.

The tracklistings for both are awful. Considering the amount of material from both albums especially Yes that they seemed to like such as Random, The Next Big Thing I am baffled!

You need to search the following on amazon or iTunes, and then they come up:

Yes: Further Listening 2008-2010 (2017 Remastered Version)
Elysium: Further Listening 2008-2010 (2017 Remastered Version)

I pre-ordered but "loving kind" and "vocal" were NOT made immediately available as promised. Anyone have any luck with this? I'm using the Swiss iTunes - maybe that's the issue.

They probably haven't put that much thought into these two (only if they worked on them simultaneously as the first batch) but thr tracklist really seems like a rushed job, just to get it over with.

It does feel like "what did we put out in that era that we haven't already put on another FL then add 1 or 2 things we might have included on a 4th single from each."

For those who are preordering Elysium FL - care to describe "Vocal" demo? I seem to remember they described it as having the trademark sad trumpet and a "View from your balcony" feeling, totally removed from the final version...

I suppose we were very spoiled by Nightlife and Release so this will pale in comparison. They should have held back Fundamental for batch 2. Generally I'm fairly pleased. Glad Yes is a 3CD and that the Brits medley is included as I wasn't expecting that. Shame there aren't more demos but at least we have TLK and the Birdman tracks (wasn't expecting them). Elysium was never going to have much and indeed it doesn't but at least we get She pops and In slow motion. I suppose they will hold stuff back in case there's an Electric FL some day.

I'm a bit disappointed with these 2 releases compared to the recent 3 that were released, not much new to get excited about, agree with others, they seem cobbled together. I would have thought there were a number of Andrew Dawson mixes of tracks off "Elysium" that could have been included, not one of them has made the set.
