Live versions of songs as studio releases

#1 Post by Drem »

It's marvellous, isn't it? I knew it right from the start, when I've heard first recordings from ROH back in July. I think I'd place it as my third favourite remix of this song, right after immortal Frankie Knuckles' royal piano mix (my all-time favourite) and gorgeous disco mix. (Never was keen on Shep Pettibone's versions, especially on "device mix").

Neil and Chris, more live versions in studio mixes from now forth, PLEASE.

"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."

I love the shep pettibone mixes, way ahead of their time...kinda like dub house....This new mix is alright if a little cheesy imo...The piano line I think is a bit much

My CDS hasn't arrived yet (and won't until the second week of April, I think), but one guy posted a link to Mixcloud in "Annually" thread.

I wish they had released studio versions of the Peter Schwartz arrangements for the Nightlife tour.
Those are incredible!

Amen. I think that Peter did an astounding job remixing well-known tracks, "Montage" is my favourite DVD of Pet Shop Boys not just because of my favourite era/images but also because the most of new arrangements are sublime. Hopefully the upcoming "Nightlife" FL reissue will feature few studio versions of these.
