Chris Lowe: The royal family deserve to be publicly executed

#1 Post by Candyland Joe »

According to David Cavanagh's Creation records book, 'My Magpie Eyes Are Hungry For The Prize', Chris voiced this opinion - or words to the effect of this thread's title - during a Smash Hits feature on whether the monarchy should remain, or otherwise. I can't find the actual quote online anywhere. Does anyone have a scan of the original article?

I remember that. It was probably in the mid-80s, if I recall correctly, maybe when Prince Andrew married Fergie. Chris also said it in jest.

The Pets don't "do royalty"! There have been exceptions such as the Princes Trust and Produced by Trevor Horn

Bumping an ancient thread here, but I don't suppose anyone has a scan of the feature at all?

Get a life. It's been well proven that Morrissey is on the wrong side of history.
https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-uncomf ... morrissey/
and a massive dose of other articles have been written about his state of mind. And how he's been getting away with it all these years. Probably because of two reasons. His lyrics were set to music by Marr and other great musicians. His views have been embedded in a deceitful way in his prose. He's not the only one who's done that. Nobel Prize laureate Knut Hamsun did the same.
and you've fallen into the trap Godwin's law. You mentioned "woke".

Thank you! I've wanted to see this for years, as it's mentioned in David Cavenagh's amazing Creation Records book. Apparently Creation's Alan McGee was disappointed in how tame the Jesus & Mary Chain's comments were compared to 'pop star' Chris Lowe!
