Early Interview
This is worth watching. Chris is about as extroverted as he gets, especially in part 2:

And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Re: Early Interview
Excellent interview of an area that's my favourite of theirs. How odd to hear Neil say that they've only been together, at that point, for five years. Time goes so quickly.
Re: Early Interview
Thanks for posting the videos. I just love how from time to time a gem like this filming emerges.

Re: Early Interview
A Geordie Neil and a smiley Chris. Crikey.
I like how Chris's lift arrives after Neil's at the beginning. Do you think he counted to three to ensure Neil was first out? And why are they both apparently so excited by the swivel chairs?!

Re: Early Interview
"A Geordie Neil"? Sounds the same to me. He's hardly Cheryl Cole.
I forgot how handsome Chris was.

why doesnt he have a typical geordie accent? it's odd! even back then it barely seems northern.
Re: Early Interview
I do think Neil sounds more Geordie in the early interviews, such as the one above. His accent is more clipped and London-sounding these days.

@Lucy
Accents tend to 'set' in your teens. I think Neil's probably developed at grammer school. I read that Sting attended the same one.
I wonder if they're a similar age, they could have been in the same class! Now there's a 'Rock Profile' they never made!

Re: Early Interview
I think Sting is a couple of years older than Neil.
Regarding Neil's Geordie accent (or lack thereof), perhaps neither of Neil's parents were from Newcastle? His mother was Irish. I don't know about his father though.
