Johnny Marr doesn't play guitar on 'Being Boring'. It's the late J. J. Belle.

Re: Neil's Worst Lyrics
The future is forever
Let's not dwell on the past
Gesundheit to Europa
Let's hope it's gonna last
Laughter and forgetting
Whatever was betrayed
What happens never happened
In the Schlager hit parade
I assume he means to shame Germany because of their past but doesn't seem right, Germans learned their lesson. The country of Love parade.

That's not a problem. He's singing in character and it works.TallThinMan wrote: Tue 11 Mar 2025, 4:57 pmThat one is the worst!daveid wrote: Tue 11 Mar 2025, 2:32 pm In bits which incidentally is an anagram of "bins it" which he should have.
"It's as good as it gits"
The lyrics on the OS are notable by their absence.
It took me a long time to get over "You don't know nothing" from "Shameless". I rationalised it with myself by saying that he's singing in character.

Re: Neil's Worst Lyrics
To my ears he's simply explaining underlying tensions to a cheerful performance. Maybe not the most subtle lyric! Re: Neil's Worst Lyrics
"The Night I Fell in Love" is pretty cringe to me. Especially the "'cause I was already late for school" part as it calls into question the age of the protagonist, which is all kinds of problematic.

It's funny how that one draws the eye, isn't it? I was about to ask WTF but then I found it... Sleep of reason, my arse...

I'm also another one who's not a big fan of TNIFIL but I'll contend that Neil on a naff day is still leagues better than most of the dreck out there.

Haha, probably caused the most blatantly inappropriate thread ever written in this forum, back in 2004 I think. The poster probably got banned.Gabby wrote: Wed 12 Mar 2025, 2:13 am "The Night I Fell in Love" is pretty cringe to me. I guess Neil just wanted to push peoples buttons, it's a hit and miss thing to do.

But would I be a bad fan if I said...
Spoiler
...do you know how easy it is to mash up the Dumpling Song with the new Phantoms and Monsters track in your head?
Go on, try it! P&M will never sound the same again!

Re: Neil's Worst Lyrics
Probably because I'm not an native English speaker... but "It's as good as it gits" and "It's as good as it gets" sound exactly the same to me.

Yeah that line doesn't sit well with me either.
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.

Hahaha noooo this is great! It's meant to be the most obnoxiously silly, vapid social media influencer esque sentiment as well as a stupid rhyme for "media" - I love it.lalolalo wrote: Sat 15 Mar 2025, 1:35 pm "The world is changing everywhere

I must disengage your recreational music.

I sometimes wish the older stars had more direction on social media by careful pr expertise, on the same level which built their careers back in the day. Shattered dreams. Some smart kids with AI could make a lot of money by offering their services. Neil and Chris themselves have been doing quite ok I guess.
