Re: Annually 2025
All those moaning about no CD, you do realise that from 1989 - 2014 (or whenever the last Literally was) you had precisely ONE cd.

Re: Annually 2025
Yeah, I don't know why people bother complaining. We all have freedom to buy or not buy. If people are upset and stop buying because there is no CD, I'm guessing the boys will notice UNLESS it sells out regardless. And quite honestly, they probably don't care. The book in and of itself is far more than most bands make available to their fans.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Tue 14 Jan 2025, 4:03 pm All those moaning about no CD, you do realise that from 1989 - 2014 (or whenever the last Literally was) you had precisely ONE cd.

But then we got spoilt with a few on the bounce.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Tue 14 Jan 2025, 4:03 pm All those moaning about no CD, you do realise that from 1989 - 2014 (or whenever the last Literally was) you had precisely ONE cd.
Re: Annually 2025
I think it's the cost why people (including me) complain. For a die hard collector it does not matter, but many non-completists read that book once and then stock it away.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Tue 14 Jan 2025, 4:03 pm All those moaning about no CD, you do realise that from 1989 - 2014 (or whenever the last Literally was) you had precisely ONE cd.
It is a lovely release, well curated but without a CD I am not spending that amount (the shipping makes it very expensive). I also skipped the Cricket wife edition.
TBH: Literally in the 80s and 90s was only for the happy (UK) few, as making international payments was so complicated and expensive in those pre-internet days (no credit cards, no easy money transfer, currency nightmares all over, international shipping that was even more expensive than today) that tweens (incl myself) could certainly not afford this. So yes, those who bought Literally at the time can now also afford Annually without any problems.

Annually is a lovely idea but the shipping to the USA costs more than the book. Now I realize why they're always so damned expensive on eBay.
Maybe it's time for an e-book version? Might help solve the problem of font size!

I'm kinda surprised they don't make an ebook version available given our ever-growing digital world. I do wonder if they did, would the hardback sales plummet and if so, would they make enough money off digital sales to make up for the hardback sales lost.petshopgrrl wrote: Wed 15 Jan 2025, 11:13 pm Annually is a lovely idea but the shipping to the USA costs more than the book. I like that in this modern age of intangibles it’s still a physical object. There’s something reassuring and reliable about that in uncertain times. Then again, I’m in the U.K. so I don’t have to suffer the shipment hassles and expense.bongsteve wrote: Wed 15 Jan 2025, 11:59 pmI'm kinda surprised they don't make an ebook version available given our ever-growing digital world. Re: Annually 2025
Those that moan, you’ll notice it when it’s no longer printed. Look at other bands from the same era. Blur don’t print anything. Depeche don’t print anything (infact they treat fans like they should be grateful for anything) U2 don’t produce anything. New order don’t produce a yearly round up. New order barely do anything at all. 40 years after they first released music and 36 years after the first edition, we still get a “fan club” book. No one else does that.
Those that don’t buy it are the first ones on here asking what questions were answered and asking for scans

Absolutely. I always talk about the Annuallys and the wealth of information it gives when I talk with friends about music.

Re: Annually 2025
I'll always support Annually. It's a far more essential purchase to me than, say, a Japanese vinyl edition of Nonetheless featuring added sushi that glows in the dark when spun on an exclusive fission-tempered Fukushima half-life glass turntable.
Of all the things to complain about, Annually is not one of them. While it is a pricey affectation, it's the type of artefact that only a true fan would really want. Collectors of all types might chase up the limited edition vinyl records, etc., but to read Annually - as opposed to reselling it on eBay - is to be a fan seeking intimacy and wonderment with the object of his or her obsession, and to become a fellow traveller in the immersive world of Pet Shop Boys, with all the humour, wit, banality, and insight that entails.
It's an experience in ways that, say, filing away that fourth copy of Nonetheless under V for Venezuela, just isn't.
Drico.
