Christmas songs need to mean something to people, the nostalgia for the Wham song etc is far higher than for this song… it’s not about buying places in playlists, those top two songs are the top two songs people want to play at Xmas… nothing PSB have done comes close.

Although my daughter always wants “the nutcracker one” on at Christmas… I hadn’t really noticed how appropriate that song was for the holiday season before she pointed it out… All Over The World…

For me, Always on my mind will always be a song for Christmas and New Year.

You can feel tired of listening them again and again but both are outstanding songs. The first time I listened to AIWFCIY for the first time I was surprised how good the song was. Of course, one of the best Christmas songs in history. No doubt about that. I thought it was unfair the song didn't get the Number 1 on charts when it was released, a bit more of the same for LC. Time has given them the success these songs deserved.

If IDOSAC had been released when it was sent to the fans in the 90's, the song would have been a Top 10 easily. In the 80's, even a Top 3. It's a really good song.

And yes, Always on my mind works like a Christmas song and it used to be played on TV many times for Christmas when BBC plays old performances from TOTP.

Can't resist the low hanging fruit of pointing out that AOTW was the "other" lead track from the Christmas EP. I think the remix is a little *too* festive but it's fun in a "kitchen sink" way. Interesting that the two things Parlophone haven't brought back are 7" versions and vinyl singles.

Yeah, I know it was on that EP, but the appropriateness to the Christmas theme was lost on me for ages. Honestly thought it was just party of a fun party theme. Every track on that is now part of Christmas for us now though.

I really didn't engage too well with All Over The World on Yes. I much prefer the "Christmas" remix, and my daughter is a huge fan of the dub version (and who am I to argue with that?).

I do think the Christmas EP is under-rated. It's a really nice, and I recall Chris Evans who I think was at Radio 2 by then saying how much he loved it and that in some alternate universe it would be No.1 in the charts. I have to agree with that assessment, and as lovely as it was to get the original CD as the fan club card that year, if they'd released it as a proper single, I think it would have made a deeper impact. But maybe that's what they intended - to have this niche Christmas classic.

Neil reminds me of a helpful elf and Chris looks like he's about to hit the slopes at Verbier.

Merry Christmas, ya bums!

Did you make that? It's so brilliant I'm shocked they didn't come up with it themselves.

Why thank you, yes I did, and I'm surprised I haven't seen that done sooner.

Boys, feel free to steal that one.

There's something poignant about one of the greatest ever singles bands' last Top 40 single being a Christmas EP.
