I can’t even begin to describe how much i detest queen. They’re Sparks for w4*nkers. Corporate rock who’s history has been airbrushed. Freddie, whilst alive did NOTHING for aids awareness or aids charities, the whole group regularly played Sun City during Apartheid. There’s not a single other group out there that irritates me more than them.

To be fair to Queen they have got an awful lot of bangers. They are crass and uncool but you can't help singing along to Don't Stop Me Now when you hear it for the zillionth time. The Sun City stuff is bad but you could argue lots of artists play gigs for some dodgy regimes even now. Freddie was clearly quite a complex character (he was hardly bigging up his ethnicity either) and you could be forgiven for thinking he was a straight white man if you were fairly innocent.tottenhammattspurs wrote: ↑Sat 12 Oct 2024, 11:39 am I can’t even begin to describe how much i detest queen. Better than Blur, The Police, Bee Gees, Duran, The Cure, The Clash, Wham! or Spice Girls.
So I suppose they are the best British pop duo of all time then.

The Eurythmics deserved to be on the list.

Oh don't worry, there'll be another poll along shortly in which a completely new ranking will be announced, according to how much the media have managed to push a group into our collective memory to the exclusion of others.
Yes, it's all bollocks.

This whole thing is to gauge what Radio2 listeners would listen to. They are haemorrhaging listeners, especially to Greatest Hits Radio and this poll shows them exactly what to now play. Basically what Greatest Hits Radio are! Oldies Oldies Oldies, scattering of contemporary newer acts, a bit of palatable corporate rock and a bit of 90s nostalgia. What they don't realise is that it's not the music thats losing them listeners but the "DJs" who play them. Paddy bloody McGuiness? Vernon Kaye, Rob Beckett, Fearne Cotton. Not one of them actual DJs. Meanwhile they lose Ken Bruce and got rid of Steve Wright..

To be fair, Steve Wright died. Hard to keep him on air after that.tottenhammattspurs wrote: ↑Sun 13 Oct 2024, 1:07 pm This whole thing is to gauge what Radio2 listeners would listen to. A dead Steve wright is still better than an alive Paddy McGuiness.
And Steve died because the one thing he still had and bought him genuine joy was his radio show. I have friends in the business and they just said he just gave up.
