Probably Queen, Erasure, New Order and The Smiths. Having said that, I would say I have no interest (or at least haven't bothered to listen to) any of the recent albums of New Order or Erasure so they are only just hanging onto a place in the top 5.

One of them would probably have to be substituted with the Beatles. Actually, now I've thought about it a bit more both are out. Not sure if solo artists are allowed but Erasure and New Order both lose their places to The Beatles and David Bowie. They retain a place in the top 10 though.
I rule. You don't.

Yes ive come to them quite recently as outside of new order I couldn't stand guitars in the 90s...last Suede album is fantastic

1 Pet Shop Boys
2 Autechre
3 The Future Sound of London
4 Aphex Twin
5 New Order

Joyfully surprised some of you had Autechre in there! Good job!

Also surprised none of us had Stereolab. Their later releases are bordering on PSB synthpop fabness.

So I have honourable mentions for Stereolab, Suede, Bjork, Boards of Canada, Clark, Plaid, Underworld,Moby...but of course that's cheating.

For me it would be

Tame Impala
Bob mould
Justice
Electronic (and associated sumner/marr output)
Surprised to see another Bob Mould fan here! I’m a huge Sugar fan.

My top 5 has changed a lot in the last 15 years but probably:

John Foxx
Blancmange
The The
Soft Cell

Recently

1. Pet Shop Boys
2. New Order
3. Depeche Mode
4. Damon Albarn projects - Blur/Gorillaz/The Good, the bad and the Queen
5. The National (just edging out Saint Etienne)
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

It is surprising there isn't a little more PSB/Stereolab overlap. They show up in my top 5, though (post #117).

I've always fancied the idea of Stereolab covering "Ego music". Image
