Indeed, it’d sound nice played in a set with destination eschaton
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

They should've played it on the Electric Tour, would've worked well.

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Sounds great yeas, to our ears but it's really b-side material. The lyrics are about themselves in a mocking way and sonically it's not really a crowd pleaser. Turning this into a single was career damaging.

In what way damaging? The final single from the Very campaign that had started over a year before.

i really liked this song,

the remixes were good, and very frantic.

glad to have a 4th single from the album.
and it did get released in the US, which sometimes
does not happen (like 'being boring').

Its b-sides are the best of the Very era.

Liberation was the bad single. One and One would have been infinitely better. Yesterday was my favorite of them all.

I love this mix. Possibly in my top 10.

thankfully. I never thought that song was single material - and the remixes done for it didn't help the song out any better.

Some of the lines are really good, but the ego-lyrics about their tour are pure b-side material.
The following isn't that bad:
"Darling, you were wonderful, you really were quite good
I enjoyed it, though, of course, no one understood
a word of what was going on, they didn't have a clue
They couldn't understand your sense of humour like I do'

You're much too kind
I smiled with murder on my mind

'You have a certain quality which really is unique
Expressionless, such irony, although your voice is weak

You hated me too
but not as much as I hated you"

But the chorus and the rest of the verses should've been relegated to obscure b-side. If I were Neil I would've prepared a word sallad about pop vs rock and how Yesterday, when I was mad is a rock lyric.
