How Come "Relentless" is so good?!?
Relentless is a decent dance album. Five out of six tracks are good or very good, one track is just very dull and boring: KDX 125.
"One Thing Leads To Another" and "Forever In Love" are my favourite tracks, followed by "The Man Who Has Everything" (I miss vocals), "We Came From Outer Space" and "My Head Is Spinning"...
btw: I think the track "Nyet" on the Battleship Potemkin soundtrack has some sounds that remind me a bit of "My Head Is Spinning"...

Relentless can really hold my attention when I listen to it, wheras Nyet bores me to tears. Its not a very interesting track.Henrik Powers wrote:Nyet is a Relentless track to me (and quite a good song... i love the "under-bass" in the begining...)dVTB wrote:

Strangely enough, the triple CD format was not an issue with the 'Release / Further Listening 2001–2004' 3CD...Zeus On The Loose wrote: ↑Fri 23 Sep 2005, 10:30 amWhen asked, Neil said they considered tucking it [Relentless] on the Very re-issue but that would make it a triple CD which would have been excessive. I don't think they're keeping it obscure, they have simply not had the chance to reissue it.

Maybe they changed their minds regarding the aesthetic value of "fat jewelcase" packagings, but that still wouldn't explain why 2017's 'Very / Further Listening 1992–1994' still was just a double...
I suspect they are keeping this for a future project, where they'll extend it with similar lyrics-heavy euphoric dance tracks

Hello 2005, I thought you were a new thread, as usual. Scary that this is older by a few months than I've been registered on this forum. I think Neil has always liked the idea that Relentless had a limited edition, hard to find quality. Of course in these days of eBay, Amazon, YouTube etc. it's lost that quality. Please re-release it, remastered together with a few other unreleased nuggets from that period like Big Piano.
Re:
I'd never really paid attention to the 'One Thing Leads To Another' lyrics until I read this. What a revelation - I'll never listen to it in the same way again! It's like they came up with the idea of the film 'Memento' long before it came out.joe stalin wrote: ↑Tue 27 Sep 2005, 8:39 pm I agree that OTLTA is quality.. I love the way that the lyrics are all backwards... I do think the chorus although catchy could be mistaken for something those guys who did 'things can only get better' might have put out... and really ... such a comparison would be most unfair. So all in all... I'm happy for it to stay undiscovered.
Has anyone got a transcription of the lyrics in the "right" (chronological) order, to understand the full story of the song?

Re: Re:
That's wonderful. Love how well it works both ways round. Never thought the song was strong enough for a single, but would've made two great Very B-sides: 'One Thing Leads To Another' and 'Another Leads To One Thing' - two versions with the lyrics in each direction!

They still missed to perform OTLTA and Forever In Love at some off-concert, "only" The Man Who Has Everything made the cut so far. My fingers are crossed for the future.

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

as an experiment, i've created very VERY relentless.
its an instrumental version of the other 5 songs, without vocals,
and segued them into each other, its about a half hour long.
its nice ambient, background sounding. i enjoyed making it.
