Reissues project
Re: Reissues project
Likewise on vinyl of Please - Tonight is forever has all kinds of details I've missed before. Very satisfying hearing these subtly, but distinctly better and fuller.
Need to buy Actually and Introspective. but Bilingual and Very are priority as I've never owned them on vinyl.

Re: Reissues project
I guess it is then, has anyone compared it to the 2001 issues? Reading on the official site it does indeed seem as if everything was re-remastered: "Each release features brand new remasters of the original albums and the 2001 ‘Further listening’ albums". Rather strange wording on the stickers if that is the case.madsnielsen wrote: ↑Tue 06 Mar 2018, 1:52 pm According to iTunes the bonus content has been remastered as well.

Re: Reissues project
Still nobody's commented on Opportunities (dance mix)? I'm considering buying Please but would like to know if they replaced the incorrect master...

Re: Reissues project
I relented and purchased all 3 on CD.
The way I look at it, the original remasters were done in 2001. So that's 17 additional years of audio technology and expertise available to whoever has done the remastering this time around.
That's more time elapsed than there was between any of the original releases, and their 2001 remasters.

Re: Reissues project
As expected, all missed the UK top 40 album chart. Not that it matters, but just for completion.
"The Pet Shop Boys' first three albums – Please (No.3, 1986), Actually (No.2, 1987) and Introspective (No.2, 1988) make up the third instalment of The Pet Shop Boys' series of remastered and expanded re-releases, and return to the chart at No.65 (1,580 sales), No.59 (1,662 sales) and No.73 (1,468 sales) respectively. The first trio of upgrades – Nightlife (No.7, 1999), Releases (No.7, 2002) and Fundamental (No.5, 2006) reached No.29 (2,873 sales), No.30 (2,862 sales) and No.33 (2,724 sales) respectively when they launched the series last August, while Yes (No.4, 2009) and Elysium (No.9, 2012) reached No.37 (2,515 sales) and No.44 (2,233 sales) when they followed in November." - Music Week

Re: Reissues project
By the way, for anybody wondering how an album that is number 26 on physical sales can only reach number 59 on the official chart, "streaming accounted for 911,730 sales – 53.03% of the total."

Re: Reissues project
And on another note, the combined sales of about 4,500 albums this week compares to the 4,100 sales that have Ed Sheeran at number 11. Pink had 4,700 to get to number 10.

Re: Reissues project
Average sale of 1570 makes you wonder why they even bother.

Re: Reissues project
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Introspective is a definite improvement on the 2001 CD remaster to my ears.retrofuturist wrote: ↑Fri 09 Mar 2018, 2:18 am I relented and purchased all 3 on CD.

Re: Reissues project
And it's money for old rope. It's simply monetising the back catalogue. What were people expecting? Petmania?
