Whatever the criteria for the FL sets, I was hoping on the "Elysium" one, they'd include the 'Andrew Dawson HappySad Remix Instrumental' version of "Winner", as that's only been released AFAIK on a very limited-edition 7" single & would've been nice to finally have on CD. Oh well...

I just want to hear it so I can get Cyndi Lauper's annoying "She Bop" out of my head whenever I see this title.Dog wrote: ↑Fri 01 Sep 2017, 9:29 pmI fully expect "She pops" to be the only lyrics.acrylicmoon wrote: ↑Fri 01 Sep 2017, 8:39 pmLiterally issue 39. Diary
February 25.
Stuart work on "She pops".
Neil: As in body-popping. It sounds a bit like a Korean or Japanese pop song.
I don't know if he made mention of it again elsewhere.

I believe "She pops" is a song about the perils of excessive breast enlargement.Mark R.Y. wrote: ↑Sun 03 Sep 2017, 8:50 amI just want to hear it so I can get Cyndi Lauper's annoying "She Bops" out of my head whenever I see this title.Dog wrote: ↑Fri 01 Sep 2017, 9:29 pmI fully expect "She pops" to be the only lyrics.acrylicmoon wrote: ↑Fri 01 Sep 2017, 8:39 pm

Surley the Andrew Dawson remixes are a grey area. Since he produced the album : when does an album track becomes a remix ?DJ Fairborne wrote: ↑Sun 03 Sep 2017, 12:54 am Whatever the criteria for the FL sets, I was hoping on the "Elysium" one, they'd include the 'Andrew Dawson HappySad Remix Instrumental' version of "Winner", as that's only been released AFAIK on a very limited-edition 7" single & would've been nice to finally have on CD. Technically he could have worked on the album Winner and the HappySad mix at the same time.

Disc time restrictions were also a factor with the first six, because they had a small hand in the Seriously UK 7" mix (the overdubs etc) and with the 9 minute version of There Must Be The Place, it was considered at one time, before Neil forgot it actually does exist.Dog wrote: ↑Sat 02 Sep 2017, 5:18 pm
I agree. The single remix of "Seriously" is fantastic. However, to the best of my knowledge that single mix (and the longer remix) is almost all "Brothers in Rhythm". Although considering the fact that BIR, I believe, mixed "Go West" (for Very and the single). Likewise, J&S for "Yesterday, when I was mad", Beatmasters for "I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing" ... I think it's a pretty grey area when classifying some tracks.
They only include mixes they had a hand in... Besides, they need to save stuff back for their next remixes compilation, no doubt.
Anyway, PSB had a hand in certain dubs of the Yes etc bonus mixes, but it seems they are not fond of putting almost instrumentals on these bonus albums, even though the Psychological one was even issued as a promo single in its own right.

I think that the official single mixes should be included no matter what; why should "Seriously" be considered a remix, when "I wouldn't normally..." is not? Both are A-side tracks with an official video made for them. As for other mixes I think it is fair thay they only include their own.Zog wrote: ↑Sat 02 Sep 2017, 1:51 pmI agree. I definitely agree with this as well.stopthecar wrote: ↑Sun 03 Sep 2017, 9:09 am Surley the Andrew Dawson remixes are a grey area. Since he produced the album : when does an album track becomes a remix ?

Vocal and The Loving Kind both now available on iTunes!!!
Another classic example of when the demo is miles better than the released version. I don’t like the Electric version of the track - never been a fan of it at all. But the demo is just brilliant. Wow
And loving The Loving Kind too!!

Neil has said they only include those mixes they were involved in; they had a hand in the Beatmasters single mix of I Wouldn't Normally Do..., but no involvement in the Seriously mixes.Hillbilly wrote: ↑Mon 04 Sep 2017, 2:53 pmI think that the official single mixes should be included no matter what; why should "Seriously" be considered a remix, when "I wouldn't normally..." is not? Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning.
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

They weren't quite satisfied with the BIR single mix and added overdubs to the master and the "You gotta have funk" sample at the beginning. It's mentioned in Literally
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

Disappointing. Made my own compilation from tracks I've already got (that are attainable in the modern internet world, one way or another) and the situation is the following:
So, an incredible 7 tracks for almost 30 quid? No, thank you.Yes FL 2008-2010 - 4 tracks that weren't previously available (2 if you take into consideration The Loving Kind is now available + Night Song was a fan download back in 2010, so two childrens-musical demoes left)
The Loving Kind (Monitor Mix)
The Dumpling Song (Demo from "My Dad's a Birdman")
Wings and Faith (Demo from "My Dad's a Birdman")
Night Song (Fan Club Download 2010)
Elysium FL 2011-2012 - a "whopping" 3 tracks previously unavailable (2 if you don't count the Vocal (Demo) which is out now, so two demoes left)
Vocal (Demo)
She Pops (Demo)
In Slow Motion (Demo)

That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

Well, that's the best £1.98 I've spent for quite a while. 2 great little tracks.
Not enough new on the CDs for me, but hey, this is the 21st century… just buy the few new things you like. You already have everything else in physical format already, right?
