And there's the attention to detail I'm talking about. Seriously, that's brilliant...and it makes the booklet errors all the more frustrating.Firthy2002 wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2017, 7:56 pmCorrect. It's most obvious on Nightlife.Mr Love wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2017, 7:43 pm The spines of Nightlife and Release can be seen in a recent Pet Text - the jewel case front images are continued on the spines, with no text on top I assume. Anyone care to share some close-ups? (Tried to attach the photo but it's too large.)

Question: Why Numb and In Private are on Release FL instead of Fundamental FL?

It's about when they were recorded, not when they were released - that's why

Re: Reissues project
I really love their original take on Radiophonic
It's way more upbeat and bright, and leaves me thinking Nightlife could of been their first Electric if they'd settled on that direction.
I do like the darker clubbiness sometimes present in Nightlife, though. It's just not something they could sell easily, imo. Still, it stands nice on it's own in their back catalogue.

Popped into HMV Oxford St, London today and picked up all three and got the last set of prints. That made my day.

Re: Reissues project
Yeah the Radiophonic demo has been a real revelation to me, since on the album it's always been an okay but not stand-out track that I never really paid that much attention to. As with Bright Young Things, the demo version of Radiophonic lacks the studio sheen & overproduction of the released version and is far more genuine and approachable. Suddenly, it's one of my favorites of the Nightlife era. Neil is absolutely correct (in the booklet) when he notes that the demo sounds fresher than the album version since it's not so explicitly tied to the aesthetic of late 90s trance.jasonjohn wrote: ↑Sun 06 Aug 2017, 11:58 am I really love their original take on Radiophonic

And am I imagining things or is there a definite allusion to Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You?" in that outro?
Re: Reissues project
Radiophonic (demo) was the first track of the reissues I listened to. I agree, its a revelation, of a track I never really cared for. The trance sound dated quickly in my opinion.
Re: Reissues project
The demo is great ! That should have been on Nightlife instead. Maybe polished up a bit.
Re: Reissues project
Hope for a delivery from Pledgemusic tomorrow Monday... I've read so much about all the tracks by now, it feels as if I've already listened to them.

Interesting story on Geowayne's site regarding Little Black Dress:

http://www.geowayne.com/newDesign/other ... kdress.htm
Yet another "sample connection" (as revealed in Issue 20 of their fan club publication Literally) is the fact that Neil and Chris originally wrote this song around an excerpt from the classic T.Rex hit "Get It On." This would ultimately prove, however, to be an extremely important point—and a rather unfortunate one. They had planned on including their demo among the bonus tracks released in 2017 with the reissue of Nightlife. But the fact that it was based on a sample of "Get It On" caused unforeseen difficulties. An unresolved dispute over the ownership of the late Marc Bolan's song catalogue in the United States prevented legal clearance of the sample, so the Boys weren't permitted to release their demo. The legal complications actually delayed the release of the reissues by several months as Neil and Chris kept hoping for resolution. But, in the end, they felt they couldn't hold off any longer and had no option but to proceed with the Nightlife reissue without "A Little Black Dress."

Nice!
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning.
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

Re: Reissues project
Good grief, I've just seen what the prints are selling for on eBay. Let's just say I am glad I lucked into buying the CDs in HMV and getting them for nothing.
