That's what I was thinking too, they should put it out as it stands, its bloody brilliant!boyjohn wrote:Wonderful song...no idea how they can make a single edit out of this though.

Its very good !!!
Re: Rating: "Love is a Bourgeois Construct"
Could someone transcribe the lyrics please? That could improve my perception (some ideas might be lost to my ears). At the moment I'm not *that* impressed. Yes, the intro is great, but the rest has somewhat monotonous beat and heard many times from them (TSAGS comes to mind). For me it would work better as a ballad perhaps. Not quite in the same category like This must be the place I waited years to leave mentioned above.

Will this poll still be open once the album has been released?
Re: Rating: "Love is a Bourgeois Construct"
Just heard it...it really is fantatic, one of the best they have ever done and easily in the top ten tracks they have ever produced.
10/10 for me without a doubt

Another poll should be opened a few days after Electric's release, it would be interesting to see if there is a large difference between the two.
Re: Rating: "Love is a Bourgeois Construct"
Not been too keen on some of the tracks i've heard but this track is top drawer, the best track Pet Shop Boys have recorded in years, a definite classic.
I am somewhat perplexed that they dropped it from their live set and also chose to release "Vocal" before this song as a single.

This song is probably one of the best tracks PSB have ever done. I can't believe how good it is. While I understand Drico's point that this track could use a definitive "chorus", there's still very much something about the song that grabs you. I've listened to it over and over now and I'm getting the same feeling I did the very first time I heard Shameless...or Delusions of Grandeur. Lyrically, it is just as complex and over-the-top as Delusions. I even thought about what this track would do in a club... it's VERY ecstatic. Begging for an uplifting, joyful remix. LOVE IT. 10/10.

I find it heartening that at last, there's a song that I absolutely adore in PSB's back catalogue that pretty much 99% of the fanbase agrees with.

Everything we love about the Pet Shop Boys,
10/10, no doubt about that, simply fantastic, True that a radio edit would not do this credit but it deserves to be a single for sure!

Re: Rating: "Love is a Bourgeois Construct"
I was saying in the other thread that I found neils vocals to be just a bit sub par this album and rough and badly mixed....when I first heard this track it was my perception somehow he is manipulating his voice while singing to sound different, possibly to sound like he did way back when...just for effect. maybe its only me that thinks that though. he just sounds....different.
this track is as melodramatic and huge as "delusions of granduer". listening to this and "bolshy" its amazing how intricate their arrangements are on this album.
this is far from verse chorus verse chorus fade out automatic pilot stuff. theres just lots of different "parts" to each song. not sure I actually like flourescent as a somg...but as a soundscape I love its 80's sci-fi movie soundtrack sound.
