Do you think "Electric" will be the big PSB's stomper album?

#1 Post by Nickname »

Many people here said PSB were too old to create again the lovely stomper songs which made famous in the 80's and early 90's. Have you changed your mind or do you think "Electric" is not going to be an stomper album, maybe uplifting and electro but not a stomper in an old way?.

In terms of stompage, Axis is as good, if not better than their past work. If it represents the rest of the album then I'd say this question is equivalent to "Is water wet?".

Who was saying the Pet Shop Boys were too old to create more "stomper songs" (whatever they are)? If by stomper you mean anthemic uplifting dance tunes I don't remember seeing any of those posts. Perhaps the OP could enlighten me?

No, I guess apart from "Axis" it's gonna sound a lot like Behavior.

I love stomper song but like the way it used to be or integral, that are the most easy example to say. Because a lot of other songs could enter in the description of a stomper. There's also go west, winner, red letter day, this kind of songs. I love the idea of psb making a traditionnal song that is better than everything else in music. But it's hard to definite one song like this on some past album, like behaviour, please, release... though there may be songs that fit the stomper description. Elysium is complicated too, for me leaving is a stomper, but it's the first song. Winner is a bit anthemic like go west or New York city boy. Requiem could fit too the big closer of the album but i don't feel the same things as in integral or the way it used to be (i know elysium is a much low key album, i loved requiem at the beginning, but i don't listen to it much now) I hope that on electric we'll have a big surprise, and very very good amazing songs. And amongst them the traditionnal stomper song.

One of the most stomper songs from PSB for me is "Suburbia". In my humble opinion it defines "stomper" pretty good.

Too early to tell, Axis doesn't fill me with confidence.

    here's hoping! :)

Nah, not really. I'm still optimistic that the rest of the album will have some great gems on it .... suspect a mix of track types - if Disco is the blueprint

    ... looking forward to it

We'll know more when the next concert is played as I'm sure a couple more new tracks will get an airing ....

Maybe, but with all the people taking videos at the concerts they might not want to give away too much two months before the album comes out. I remember that they said they had a plan for the promotion of Elysium. That plan seemed to be "we're not really gonna promote it much at all". I wonder if with the new label and a more upbeat album they will do anything different this time, or if they have pretty much given up on promotion and are just gonna try to sell to the fans.

I actually think Axis needs more oomph but it's still bloody good.

I hope we get a Future Lovers/Light Years-type track somewhere on the new album.
