"Electric" = a new "Very" ?

#1 Post by Nickname »

Pointy hats again (in the teaser) and a danceable album. "Elysium" was like "Behaviour" in many things (the slow and drama part of PSB) and now "Electric" could be like "Very" (the fast and funny part of PSB).

I hope not. Very is overrated in my opinion and under produced.

F * * * M E

Thirty second teaser, similar headgear even though you cant properly see it and were comparing it to an album of 20 years back.

WHY NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY HEAR THE ALBUM IN FULL.

    Cone hats don't mean "Very" to me. They are "Can You Forgive Her?", subsequently used in the West End Girls portion of the Olympic Closing Ceremony.

    Very is let down by One and one makes five, A different point of view and One in a million in my opinion. They are my skip tracks.

    Agreed except for A Different Point of View. Very is a masterpiece though and is their last truly classic album IMHO.

    FWIW, I agree with that, except I'd say "poorly produced, mostly" rather than "under produced". The first two singles and "Yesterday..." sound great, the rest sounded never sounded right to me, (especially considering how great all their previous records sounded). This is why I've not been sorry to not see Stephen Hague back. Mostly great songs though.

    I like both Bilingual and Elysium better than Very.

    I wouldn't put much blame on Stephen Hauge regarding the production values, as PSB produced Very themselves. Hauge did some tinkering in post.

    It's an album of it's time, a bit flat by today's sonic taste and a tad tiresome to listen to all the way through. But in small servings the songs sound great. I'm a huge 909 fan :)

    I'm feeling more Relentless than Very, but bring it on if it's anything like either of them!
