The legendary duo Pet Shop Boys, who is considered the most successful group in the history of British music in the Guinness Book of Records with over 50 million sales worldwide, is coming to PSM Jazz Festival on July 3rd!
The sensational group, founded in England in 1981 by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, brought Elvis Presley's song "Always on My Mind" and important songs such as "West End Girls" and "It’s a Sin" to the history of dance music. The group, which was also affected by the hip-hop winds blowing in New York City at that time, released their first single West End Girls in 1983. They reinterpreted the song, which did not receive the expected intense attention, after switching to the Parlophone Records label in 1985, and the song was an international success. Thanks to the success of the song, Pet Shop Boys released their first album "Please" in 1986, and the band was now on top of almost all charts. To date, 42 songs have been included in the Top 30 charts, 22 of them have risen to the Top 10. As both producers and remixers, they worked with world giants in their field such as Dusty Springfield, Lady Gaga, Liza Minelli, Madonna, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, The Killers and Girls Aloud. Throughout their career, the duo who also wrote the musical “Closer to Heaven” at the West End did not neglect to support and contribute to the performing arts. Pet Shop Boys, who have not been off stages for the last 30 years, reaching millions by performing 700 shows in 63 different countries, will bring dance to PSM Jazz Festival on July 3rd with their most loved songs!

“People go to Berlin to write some cold electronic music. They want to be David Bowie or U2. We went there and ended up writing this very lush orchestral LA album [2012’s Elysium]. So, there you go. Although, having said that I would quite like to go to Turkey and make a really authentic-sounding Turkish-influenced record. I love that sound actually…” – Chris Lowe
