Bass guitar on Minimal? Peter Hook perhaps?

#1 Post by Danimal »

Almost made this into a poll, but that would be taking it too far...
So, does the mighty Peter Hook actually play on Minimal (he has DJed with the PSB in recent years), or is Chris playing a Hookyesque sample; or perhaps is Trevor Horn playing the bass (or maybe Neil, he did play bass on Opportunities) in Peter Hook's style?
Any insight?

With all due respect, it isn't really hard to play it like that, so it really could be anyone. But since Mr. Horn will be playing the bass guitar on the BBC Radio 2 performance, my bet is that's him on Minimal as well.

Meant to sound like Hook/ New Order, I think. He'd be quite expensive for some simple chords (as said above).
Love Minimal, btw.

It would explain why they kept such an uninspired part of the song in. But it is so generic that anyone could have done it.
It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.

Obviously you haven't heard any of the Jacques Lu Cont/Thin White Duke remixes of various tracks from the last few years!!

In any case, this is the most New Order"y" sound from the PSB ever.

Joe, would you agree that S+G sounds a bit like Morrissey? Everytime I hear it, I think of Moz singing it...

I'm sure I posted this earlier, but it's not showing up...anyway I'll post it again >_<

Stuart Price would do an awesome remix of this! If they do decide to release this as a single they should definitely ask him to do a remix!...in fact, any song with a remix from him would be great! :D

All his mixes are killer!

It's a very N.O. sounding track name IMHO.

Hmm...only a small bit I should think. But yeah, I guess there is something reminiscent in the style of the song. I wouldn't have thought about it if you hadn't mentioned it though.

the bass sounds like peter hook indeed but i don't think it's played by him. it's a nice thing anyway. why should this be uninspired?
