New Avarar: beard officially 2 years old;)

#1 Post by Zog »

In an effort to make it slightly more on topic: I'm about 1/2 way between the ages of Neil and Chris: 58.

Although I've been a member of this general "group" since my 30's (as we all moved from PSB forum to PSB forum: "Dot Music", "Sky Forums", etc.).

I always liked the PSB, back in their "Imperial Days", but forgot about them until about 1996, when a late night alternative music CBC (Canada) radio show played "Discoteca". I was driving at the time, pulled the car over, and was transfixed by the overwhelming sadness and complexity of the song. I will never forget this moment.

The rest is history, and I have never looked back. Thus began my "love-affair" with the PSB: my favourite group/band (or whatever you want to call them) ever.

For all new members here who have only just scratched the surface of their music: a treasure trove of brilliance and discovery awaits you! :)

You know how you get a mental picture of someone you've never met and the picture is nearly always totally wrong? Well, this is another of them! :D

Eh up Zog (Yorkshire term for "hello"!) - nice beard!
I've been on the board since May last year, but I'm a Veteran Pethead (since 1986) and just didn't discover the forum! Great to discover like minded individuals!
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

I'm originally from the UK, so I understood! Born in London in 1957! Lived in Stanmore area and later the Newbury area, where I learned to talk posh, although my accent has mellowed since we emigrated to Canada (Victoria, BC).

Yes I do. I feel very Anglo-Saxon with my beard, although I'm officially half Welsh. My Dad, though was born and bred in the Wembly area.

We need a new emoticon/emoji with a "Chelsea Grin".

I liked the evocative story, Zog, of your first encounter with "Discoteca", at night, on the road. I always think of mine, a more sun-drenched experience, lunch hour on the day of release, a warm day, walking around Union Square in New York, listening (via a Discman, it must have been) to the drums marching in my ears.
