#1 Post by One of the crowd »

Wednesday August 19th 1981

That day Neil and Chris met in that electronics shop

And the rest, they say, is history

Small mention to August 19th 1983, the day Neil met Bobby O in New York

Quite possibly without that meeting they wouldn’t have produced the soundtrack to many of our lives.

Quite simply

The best duo ever

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Amazing, well done.
I love hearing the story of how they joined and started making music immediately. :D

Some may wonder if there will be an official commemoration of some kind, I remember when addressed with this Neil said he counts the first number 1 as the real anniversary worth celebrating. Saying this year's doesn't really count.
Chris said an updated BBC documentary would be fitting. There was a 40th anniversary broadcast after that, but it didn't contain any original content.

What a combination, Neil and Chris. Perfect balance, complimenting each others strengths and limitations.
No one tell Chris it's been 40 years.
Here's to what lies in store.

When they make a biopic of the boys, this exposition scene at the electronics store, the "meet cute" will invariably be the best part of the movie.

What a ride! We're lucky this chance meeting happened at all, providing us 40 years of good music to enjoy.

..just imagine that Neil already had the plug he needed 40 years ago, so he never goes to the electronics store. Or even just decided to go an hour later. The "butterfly effect" in all it´s glory for our lives...
Or maybe..how many other possibly great music acts never happened because the coincidence worked on the opposite way...

19th August was also John Deacon's 70th. Different group of course but hey what a day.

Where would we be now if we'd never met? I don't know but like you just said - something changed.

Oh! if we’re quoting other people to reference this amazing moment in PSB history … how about:

“And songs are never quite the answer
Just a soundtrack to a life
That is over all too soon”
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional
