Both Madonna and Neil have got it wrong

Does Neil say (‘lecture’ is a better word for our headmaster Mr. Tennant!) when Madonna says ‘Ik ben droevig’ : ‘Oh, that’s wrong in German bytheway’? If that’s what he says , then he is in fact wrong too. Because that lyric is not German, but Dutch

I heard it, too.

Well, Neil is right then. "Ik ben droeving" is wrong in German because it isn't German. :D

That would be "Ich bin traurig".
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

I believe that is Dutch. For "I am sad."

Ich bin traurig is "I am tired," in German, so I wonder if there is something crossed in the translation.

"Ich bin traurig" means "I am sad".

"I am tired" would be "Ich bin müde". ;)

Not tired as in "sleepy" but tired as in woeful, mournful. Depressed.

I had always used unglücklich for sad.

So I guess.

But anyway Ik ben droeving is Sumpfdeutch.

Maybe that was supposed to be German, but they have no way how to pronounce it! Just listen to Neil in "Entschulding":
Ich nicht sprechen Deutsch! pronounced like "Ik nik schpreken Deutsch"! Ich doesn't sound "ik"! The phrase is incorrect anyway, as "I don't speak German" is Ich spreche nicht Deutsch in German. So yes, Neil doesn't sprekken Deutsch!
