Very Gilbert and George, though.

I don't think they'll ever trouble the charts - or be a meaningful part of youth pop culture - again, but I don't think it matters. Their legacy is bulletproof at this point.

Hmm, I'd tend to agree. Hopefully there's nothing in their past that would tarnish their immaculate reputation but to quote Neil himself "It's happened before..."

I can't even bring myself to think of how that would be for me as a fan.

It's not like they've ever stopped with the costumes, even in their highly visible moments.

It's more a question of the theme of the next album. Hotspot was subdued. It's been a while since they've doubled down on a bright theme. Another Very doesn't necessarily mean the costumes need to be as obvious.
