Who PSB haven't collaborated with

#1 Post by DopeFiend »

Revisiting old collabs is cool, we've discussed what if they do more work with Bobby O, or Stuart Price, or Trevor Horn.
But who do you think they should mix with, what names come to mind.

Personally I'm surprised they've never collabed with Tiesto. Big trance superstar.
How about Giorgio Morode, how about Calvin Harris. I really love Calvin Harris, he's fairly commercial but knows what hits well.
Any modern artists or DJs to throw out there ideas of them collaborating with.
Dua Lipa I think is a good collab candidate. Or how about collaborating with some 80's revival acts, just do a song with Erasure or Depeche Mode, f*** it.

This thread is for discussion of collaborations previously never brought up. We already know about Paul Weller and Bruce Springsteen, not dance acts mind you.

An after thought, Disco 5.
Of course Disco 5 was speculated to be the next big thing for PSB.
Whether that's baseless or not, let's entertain it.
If it happened, there are a lot of possibilities but what I see as likely is a bunch of fresh remixes and some OG tracks.

I'm listening to SAINt JHN - Roses (Imanbek Remix), I've yet to see PSB comment on this track but it's one of the biggest dance tracks in the last couple years.
Hearing it, I think of Paninaro since the basic bass is so prominent.
Go listen to https://youtu.be/2zToEPpFEN8 and imagine what if they did a Imanbek Remix of Paninaro and some deephouse mixes of PSB classics. They have the entire back catalogue of singles to provide to remixers. They've never just done an open project where established DJs can make their take on PSB's best tracks.
TBH I'd also be okay with Super/Hotspot remixes, if that's what they have to do (why not remix the older tracks though).

Remixes of course are the lower tier of collaborations. Almost forgettable at times.

Anyway thought I'd throw it our there, just do a remix project with a bunch of potentially risky but successful modern artists and call it Disco 5.
Historically Disco is a compilation of existing remixes. Fuсk that, we already have the tracks. Re-releasing existing tracks in another order has zero value and zero relevance. Make a fuсking shocking Disco 5 with brand new arse-kicking remixes. Touch of the latest genres.
When was the last time PSB had a place in modern dance music??????
I'm thinking back at the start of the last decade with Vocal.

Disco 5 is a good excuse to do some low-expectation but hard hitting collaborations.

I’d love to see a collab with Manic Street Preachers or Jarvis Cocker. Just imagine Jarvis singing something like Love Is A Catastrophe or Neil singing something along the lines of The Love Of Richard Nixon
is is and isnt isnt

It’s cliche, but someone from the Depeche/Erasure world. Maybe Vince and Chris do an album like VCMG.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

The best they could do is to reunite with J.Marr and Bernard and release a new and entirely psb produced electronic album. Don’t like the idea of psb collaborating with erasure or dm, they’re separate entities but they could do so with isolated members of those groups creating a new project.

Yeah an Electronic reunion would be very welcome and I mean a proper full album collaboration … not just the odd cameo or tracks here and there.

Depeche - love em but not seeing that collab working

Erasure - heck no! This is a ‘fan ending’ move for me if it ever happened … but it won’t so all is good
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

I've always fantasized about PSB working with Air or Björk. But if that didn't happen in 1998, it's not going to happen in 2021.

Definitely Calvin Harris! 8)
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Interestingly they've gone sideways a couple of times...
Collaborated with Phil Harding (instead of SAW)
Harold Faltermeyer (instead of Moroder)
Andrew Dawson (instead of Kanye West)
Electronic (instead of The Smiths or New Order)

You've got me all wrong

I don't know about you, but I found the VCMG album a bit underwhelming considering its pedigree.

I would have loved to hear PSB produced stuff with the voice of Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Claudia Brucken...but well, never happened....
