Story of It's A Sin

#1 Post by billjermaine »

Stumbled on this excellent podcast episode centred around It's A Sin released earlier in the year.

British music critic Edward Russell does a great job revisiting its early 80s NY demo origins and uncovers some little known production facts .. where Julian Mendelsohn recorded the Catholic mass for the choir/priest sample, the hidden 'laughter' in the track and the programming error that would form part of the outro. Also loved hearing Neil's latin from the multitrack in full clarity! Hope he does some more PSB during the series.

Happy Birthday to It’s a Sin (well, for yesterday, the 15th)

Does anyone know the details of the house they were in on the cover. Looks almost abandoned.

It’s Christ Church, Spitalfields, London. The other similar shots from the same period were taken in the main church, but this one is taken in the sacristy (room where the priest gets ready).
Woof.
