Ha ha, nothing as toxic as Barlow.
Drico.

Frankly I'd be stunned if at the very least Chris wasn't taking ecstasy during the 80's. It was an ingrained part of the culture that both of them were immersed in at that time. Wouldn't exactly be a shocker.
Q. "Have you ever taken illegal drugs?"
A. "I've never taken heroin"

Love comes quickly, but is a catastrophe and a bourgeois construct etc.
Re: Neil and Chris - alcoholic?
Autopilot?
Although that's probably being kind in most peoples eyes.
FWIW, I don't have much problem with Winner. I 100% understand why people do, it just doesn't bother me in quite the way it does others I guess.

Maybe that was it? Not exactly a hard "no" is it.CroMagnon wrote: ↑Thu 22 Apr 2021, 8:06 pmNeil Tennant, Oxford Union Q&A, 1995Gabby wrote: ↑Thu 22 Apr 2021, 6:19 pm I'm fairly sure somewhere there's mention (either by Neil - not likely Chris - or by a.n.other author, maybe one of the New Order biographies?) that they have taken some illegal substances.

They should've stopped the booze and released the Happysad mix on the album instead and edited it down for the 7'' release. Drugs are bad.Greendrake wrote: ↑Fri 23 Apr 2021, 3:59 am If your guys' theory about Winner is true then the Parlophone guys would have been in too because they approved it to be a single.
That said, I have never had any issues with Winner. The vocal version is okay-ish. The instrumental is quite good. The HappySad remix is gorgeous.

Re: Neil and Chris - Alcohol
I seem to remember a reference to Neil liking a 'half and half' before a show (half wine half water).
What's for supper?
Re: Neil and Chris - Alcohol
There's a lot of drinking on their early tours. Just because it's champagne and white wine doesn't make it different. Chris talks in the Discovery DVD booklet about drinking alcohol during the concert, not just before or after.
And they take strong sedatives/sleeping pills on transcontinental flights (described in Literally).
Not any good signs at all. But they're still here, still with us, still prolific, still on stage somaybe things got better.
