Nostalgia: PSB on Tracks radio chart

#1 Post by telys »

Anybody shared the affinity for Swedish radio chart Tracks on Saturday afternoons?
I was glued every week to the countdown on Tracks, the weekly radio chart as voted by the listeners, who were everybody in those days.

Tracks was THE way to get hold of all the good music in the 80's and 90's.
PSB were hugely successful on Tracks. It was them, Madonna and Depeche at the time. Once they had both nr 1 and nr 2 , I think it was It's a sin and What have I done... and then they even managed to swap places.
Even Being Boring was a huge hit on Tracks. I remember the excitement when So Hard went to nr 1 in september/october, then started sliding down the chart, leaving the top 20 and immediately afterwards BB came in at nr 6 and then climbed up to nr 1 the week after becoming christmas nr 1.
Tracks was broadcast between 1985 and 2010 and PSB ended as the nr 4 artist after Kent, Madonna and Roxette.
PSB were nr 1 artist in 1986 and 1987, nr 2 in 1988, nr 9 in 1993

BB was replaced as nr 1 by Julee Cruise Falling, this was of course during Twin Peaks-mania.
