He's doing this from time to time. :)

If I had the money ...
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

A lot of them were used in the very period.

The top one, the Yamaha TG 33 (quote below from Pete) was used for lots of the pets string sounds. They used to be a bit embarrassed about using it as it was considered a cheap synth. I owned one once but could never get my head round programming it.

“Of the rest, you can get more enthusiastic about some tools than others. One of the synths here generates all the Pet Shop Boys’ string pad sounds — they wouldn’t like me to tell you which one, though — and cost £350. “

The TG 500 was used on It always comes as a surprise.

There is another great article here on the synths they have used http://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/pet-sounds/7670

It’s really cool seeing these synths, would be great to know which PSB patches are still programmed into them.

They’re mainly ROMplers. I think the boys use more presets than people might expect.

yeah the Pets and Pete have always taken a view that if a preset works then use it.

It will be interesting to see if Pete Gleadall's move to a eurorack modular system approach is going to have an influence over the Pets sound and next album, maybe more analogue sounding. I saw Pete had purchased an Roland System 100M, one was used on Miserablism and always loved the sound of that track.
