In my humble opinion, there is no plausible reason whatsoever for closing this thread. People who are able to read will know and understand. May I dare assume this holds true for everyone on this board? Also, interesting and somewhat on-topic contributions have already been and probably will be made following the fictitious press release. So, whereas originally I simply started a joke regarding a future release, the ongoing conversation led to new insights into how music mags valued PSB releases in the 90s as well as technical issues surrounding the creation of Electronic. Such a rewarding environment shouldn't be polluted by simply locking the doors. Indeed, I think this little thread breathes some fresh air into the lungs of a board too often involved in irritating polls as well as irrelevant chart predictions.

Greetings,

That can just as easily be done on a real Electronic topic in the Off-Topic section, can it not?

Retro. :)

Well, it sure could, but probably won't :-o I mean, it's exactly the April Fools' story that lead to this little conversation.

Anyway, do as you like. I'll listen to Up against it in the meantime.

Love it! I had a good chuckle reading the "press release". Pity there wasn't Saville-style artwork for the single and album included - along with tracklistings :)

Why close it? The diversity of topics and participation in the forum are rather stagnant and this is a clever piece of imagination.

Someone (thank you) has since updated the topic title... so whilst it's still a daft title, at least it's no longer misleading.

Retro. :)

LOL, actually I don't remember the old title but I guess April Fool's Joke was not there :)

Good article. It also mentions the word supergroup. I get the feeling Electronic hasn't been praised enough for its supergroup status. Bernard, Johnny and Neil was the pop equvivalent to Traveling Wilburys. Bringing together New Order, The Smiths and PSB was like putting together members of Beatles, Stones and The Who.
And that level was maintained with Sumner/Marr/Bartos.

I totally disagree with the statement "Electronic is a good album but not a great one."

Other than that its a good read!

Yep, put it on the other day.
The first five tracks are masterpieces.
Soviet, the instrumental would have benefited from lyrics
The next four tracks are masterpieces too.
Feel every beat is a tad boring.

The single version is a significant improvement upon the album version. Even the 12" mix, despite being longer, is less "boring"

I think it's the rap. It neither fits Bernard nor the melody.

Greetings Telys,

Ah, I see. In that case, you don't want the 7" or 12"..... you want the dub!

That's it. Had a listen to it yesterday, on vinyl actually lo and behold! The dub mix is great. By Danny Rampling who also did the Disco 2 megamix we all love to hate or hate that we love...
