Diddly Squat
Re: Diddly Squat
I have no problem in having a new reinterpretation of the MIU track sung in english..it doesn't sound bad at all (IMHO, judging the snippet..even more "punch" than the MIU version...) The song may have more exposure now than then... and just shows how even the most obscure PSB tracks are interseting for other artists to be covered. That´s not a bad thing...

As a German speaker I can say no, it doesn't really translate. I would say 'rein gar nichts'.tottenhammattspurs wrote: ↑Fri 19 Mar 2021, 12:33 pm Sounds like the verses to Kylie’s “Your Disco Needs You”
Does “diddly squat” translate in German? I mean, would a German speaker know what it means? What would be the German equivalent?

The song sounds potencially commercial for me.stgobin wrote: ↑Sun 21 Mar 2021, 10:17 am The song will be premiered today in the Sunday Night Live Show on Radio Stad Den Haag (http://rsdh.nl). The show will start at 8:00pm (CET).

I've provided a little more background info on my website, specifically at http://www.geowayne.com/newDesign/other ... ysquat.htm -- but, in short, yes, Neil and Chris did give it their blessing. They wrote the music and sent a primarily instrumental demo to the producers, who then wrote most of the new English-language lyrics. They ran the final results back by Neil and Chris, who approved it.

Re: Diddly Squat
Nice information!! What sound a little ood is that PSB sent the demo to the producers...when the Miyuki version was already around for so may years, and surely they (the producers) would have had the chance to hear it already. And judging what we hear, the Miyuki version was also very faithful to that demo too...geowayne wrote: ↑Sun 21 Mar 2021, 7:11 pm

That lady has 299 subscribers only and the track she posted one year ago has untoppable 192 views lol.
But I like the song. I have not known the Japanese version so it sounds good to me.

Re: Diddly Squat
The video is really bad with a clear amateurist vibe. It's obvious they didn't have too much money to do it. But the song (of course) and the production is quite good. I really like the song, specially the musical tone of the chorus.

Re: Diddly Squat
Yes, the chorus sounds absolutely like a PSB track. I think it's the chords and the chord progression.
Agreed with the video, it looks amateurish.
I'm going to search for the extended mix and the other two mixes now.

We are sorry that you don't like the video but happy that you like the song. The extended version, dub version and instrumental version are available on Amazon Music and the iTunes store. They might come on Beatport very soon too. All options are on https://ffm.to/diddlysquat
Thanks

Re: Diddly Squat
Much prefer the MIU version.
This version makes me think of Saturday afternoon variety shows on the BBC.
Sorry.
