I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...
Wow, I really didn't like Annie Lennox back then, did I? Tolerance must indeed come with middle age.
I'm currently listening to some Frida . Her voice is sublime and would fit right into PSB music. Agnetha's making a comeback, so I think Frida should employ our favourite pop duo for her long...
I've heard many say they prefer Discography to Popart, which I find a bit amazing, so I put up a poll. For me, the additional songs, the mixed up order (much less boring) and the much superior mastering make PopArt the winner.

This is how they should update Discography every ten years or so. Neil and Chris ageing like Like The Picture of Dorian Gray .
I know many of you love the idea of PSB being a cult group creating slow melodies for fans only but I think PSB needed something special to call the attention of a bigger public because PSB are pop starts (they recognize themselves like that). I know most of you think PSB are not allowed to do that...

Go West more catchy than Can you forgive her? and All over the world more catchy than Love, etc .
wow i don't think i've disagreed more with any single statement anywhere on the internet or life in general in WEEKS.
I thought I'd create this poll because I'm intrigued to know what us PSB fans realistically expect the future to hold for the Pet Shop Boys in the official UK singles chart, regardless of (a) your views on the importance/relevance or not of chart success for PSB and (b) the fact that we are lucky...

Pet Shop Boys are not even a one hit wonder in USA. The only Number One was Westend Girls but What have I done to deserve this?? was a hit too (number 2) and songs like It's a sin and Always On My Mind were hits too in USA, not number ones but hits anyway. So you can't say PSB are a one hit wonder, more or less PSB have...
A stomper from a Spanish pop duo who are big fans of PSB. Fangoria is one of the most famous pop duo in Spain. Specially her singer called Alaska.
Both are huge fans of PSB and they have a new single called Dramas y Comedias ( Dramas and comedies ). The song talks about someone who doesn't want...

That is one scary woman.
She is a really big star since the 80's. She was presenter of one of the most famous shows of the Spanish TV La bola de cristal and an actress (she took part of the cast of the first Almodovar movie).
Nowadays, there is a reality show about she and her famous husband...
In your opinion, what version of Listening appeals most to you?
I like both versions, but the MH version is more extended and has a different percussion. It gives a more pop/new wave style to the song, which does give a different flow. I think the song actually fits Morten`s voice pretty well,...

what emotions do you hide?

Speaking of slow, just listening to the DJ Waldo Squash Mix of Memory , and it's the most groaning, weary, exhausted-sounding thing. It is really terrible. It sounds like something they'd play for senior citizens on a cruise ship.
British pop used to be excellent at incorporating reggae rhythyms...
I don`t think we should totally exclude the possibility for a single #4. Face like that is defiantly a major single candidate, and it has the potential to go pretty far. As discussed earlier on this forum, it was a perfect opener at the Elysium concert in Berlin, and I think we have all reason to...
I messed up my vote. I voted for the Ulrich Schnauss remix, but that was before I saw that the album version is also included in the poll - I think the album version is easily the best version.
I just wanted to make this poll because of the clever pun :-D But I have to say the b-sides are very strong for this album.
1. Leaving
2. Invisible
3. Winner
4. Your early stuff
5. A face like that
6. Breathing space
7. Ego music
8. Hold on
9. Give it a go
10. Memory of the future
11. Everything...

Wayne, feel free to use this poll on your site.

It's Alright on Introspective is my preferred version because in those days I would have gone clubbing in London and I was into dance music in a big way, I really prefer the length and feel of the track, when I first heard the single version I thought what a cop out, it ruined the song for me, if...
I've recently been listening to the DJ Culture CD single releases, and I was wondering which version of Music for boys is the most popular?
Also, as a BONUS to this topic, here's another question I'm hoping someone can help me with! Regarding Overture to performance (taken from the DJ Culturemix...

Part two is my favourite, in fact is one of my favourite PSB songs of all time. The Altern8 mix is my least favourite although it is still pretty darn awesome. Boy did I used to play that out a lot when I was a DJ!
Pet Shop Boys have confirmed that Memory of the future will be the third single from Elysium. We've had Winner and Leaving, and Invisible has already been released as a taster, so do you think this is the right decision? Cast your votes now. Vote early and often.

Right choice.
However, I do think we need a If PSB covered Blue Swan topic.
But PSB already did cover Blue Swan, at least to a certain extent. The chords to Requiem in Denim and Leopardskin were blatantly stolen from Never See Me Run . Why they chose to rip off the worst song we've ever done,...
As is well known, Miserablism was on Behaviour until the very last minute, when it was replaced by The end of the world. Should Miserablism have stayed on Behaviour? Or were they right to replace it with The end of the world?

I would say no. As it is easly one of the best tracks from that era it doesn't fit it with the mood of the album.
I love the idea of dividing their singles into Pop and Art but it always bugged me how they weren't in chronological order. Do you think the tracks on PopArt should've been arranged chronologically? Pop would start with Love comes quickly and end with Miracles, while Art would start with West End girls and end with...

Does anyone know a link to you a youtube video that has the Popart version? I can't find any labeled as such.
- always preferred this cleaner version.
I was listening to Paninaro from alternative, Paninaro`95 from PopArt, and the italian remix from Disco, and I was wondering which would be voted the best version... ;)
Your Early Stuff (Disconet Mega-Remix) (7:19)
Ego Music/Hit Music (Monster Mash Up) (7:09)
Invisible ( Your So Transparent Mix) (11:30)
Hold On ( It's Only The Remix PWL Remix) (6:48)
Winner (Eurovision Demo feat. Nelly) (8:59)
Is anyone else having trouble rating this song? I still can't tell if its one of their best, or on a slightly lower level. For example, does this belong in the 'classics' with Fugitive, Love Etc., Minimal, West End Girls, and Its a Sin? Or is it more in the 'very good' category of The Sodom and...

It needs a big re-think regards a single version as that synth hook drives me mad on the album version, over used without a doubt, not a track I like but hey ho they may blow us away with a new version of the song.
The question is, should it have been on the album because it is such a good song? I prefer it this way. It's not unusual for a great PSB song to be a B-Side.
True, but in this case there are several tracks on the album that I'd WANT to remove.
Has anyone sung along to Elysium Instrumental yet?

The Boys have said (in interviews) that they are interested to hear versions with people rapping over the tracks or even singing new songs over the tracks.
Simple question, I'm wondering how many fans here think of them as the best band in the world, instead of just their favourite band, if that. I personally think they're better than The Beatles, Pink Floyd, et al, I'm wondering if I'm in the minority even among PSB fans.

and then Kraftwerk, because of the direct influence Trans-Europe Express had on hip-hop/rap. What about their huge impact on everything we call synth-pop or similar?
That too. I think Neil was talking about the two groups that had the most impact on the musical structure of songs, as opposed to a...
There a lot of controversial feelings about this song. Some people think is one the best songs from Elysium but many others think just the oppposite. What do you think?.

I only recently realized that Neil speaks this song instead of singing it, and began thinking if he's done it in the past, where etc.
I don't mind the song, but I always wonder who it is about.
As far as the comparison with How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously , I think they only have a similar...
Who has had the better overall musical output? You may take into account whatever matters to you in musicality, how important hit singles are, etc, however try to be objective as possible, I'm not asking if you prefer Lady Gaga's output versus PSB, but if you think it shows more overall talent,...

That's a bit of a weird poll. How can you compare PSB with Lady Gaga? Their music is not similar enough, one is a girl, the other a mature pop duo (legendary). I have a great vision of how the Brits Medley had worked if Gaga had sung better (she sure can sing much better than that) or if they had...
I like Hold On very much and I'd be happy to see it released around Christmas. Although I doubt that it would happen, who knows?
I'm trying to find a YouTube link to send to a friend who I think would like it, but no-one's uploaded thar particular song to YT yet, as far as I can see.
In a previous poll, I asked if you thought it would be a good idea for PSB to use multiple producers on the same album. This time, I want to ask, regardless of whether or not you think it's a good idea, will PSB ever again record an album with multiple producers? Or will they continue using one...

With Nightlife multiple producers made a good work, so why not?
I just realized that Nightlife was the last album where PSB used multiple producers. Of their eleven studio albums, only four* have used multiple producers. The results have varied from amazing (Actually, Intropsective) to mixed/crap (Bilingual, Nightlife. Do you think they should use multiple...

I think it could be great.
The thing is you can have some co-producers for each song and then you can have a big producer (ex: Trevor Horn) to harmonize the full album.
I would like some songs could be co-written by another writers but only to make a song much better (for example Allee Willis...
The forum doesn't allow me to include the 12 songs. So I had to remove 2 tracks. I think Your early stuff is too short and Everything means something is a bit irrelevant, so you are not allowed to vote these tracks. Anyway, I think no-one of them was going to be the most voted track of the album.

A poll where two assumed losers are left off and two released songs are included? Hrumph!
I didn't like Winner when it was released but I quite like it when played after the terrific Leaving and Invisible. Everything Means Something is one of my favorites. Hold On is an odd song - I had the album...

Having first cast a 9 - the first 5/5 album since Very imho - I've now had some time to let the album sink in and I'm not so sure anymore.
While tracks 7-12 (side B of the LP) are close to 10/10 - what an amazing listen that is, with several tracks sounding very unusual for PSB, especially for...
I love this song. The beginning has a bit of Chris Rea On The Beach guitar and I feel like sending you a love letter reminds me of So ask yourself now can you forgive her .
Hi! I was being curious of what is the top 3 PSB albums according to popular vote here on the forum. So, just for the heck of it, I`m putting out this poll :)
(Didn`t have room enough for all the albums, so I put Yes and Elysium together)

nobody has to agree with me. it's just my personal opinion and I express it when I have the opportunity (the 1,600th post - wow)
I wasn't sure whether you were stating it as a fact or truth. When you said Very will remain the best PSB album in history it sounded like the former.
Which would you rather stomach? Disco 2 from the first glistening refrain of Ab Fab to the last climaxing orgasm of Dark, or Winner, the song, with all the Winner remixes, promo and all (Wideboys, etc) but not b-sides. Some will point out that some Winner mixes are better than others. But, then,...
love that song by yello! never heard it going to see if I can buy it off I-tunes!
thanks for posting.its smooth and dark and symphonic. the PSB would have rocked it even better.
( i had to give Nickname and Weirdalfan a run for their money right? ;) )
I love the PSB Please version...
(I think i've missed a version of West End girls in the above Poll... cant remember the name...)
Personally, i'd love to hear a version with the East 17's hip-hop music...
