I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...
Depeche Mode's new album is out, What do we think of it?
It's produced by James Ford who is working on PSB's upcoming album. And obviously Depeche Mode are a synth duo just like PSB.
Hopefully we get Neil & Chris' opinion of the album soon. No doubt they've got the finger on the pulse with this...

I think you left out Violator in that list of best albums, because it is their best imho.
This amazing performance is happening tonight at Piano Smithfield. Myself and some fan friends caught it at The Glory recently. I highly recommend it, the vocal delivery as we as the piano arrangements and performance are great and it's very funny. They will be performing this again if you miss it...

Yes, I went to both! A pity that the King's Head one was truncated to an hour. I asked Karen as she was handing out flyers on the way out, she said it was venue choice. I'll try and get to the Piccadilly one in July. I'll miss the June one as I'll be in Ireland to see Soft Cell and Pulp.
I'm looking for this picture in the best possible quality because i want to print this and hang over wall. This is the picture on I'm Not Scared vinyl from Introspective Limited Edition 3 disc. Does anybody know the info behind this picture where it was taken ? and by who i assume by PSB...

Thanks for the info Dog i knew that this picture was based on something probably a movie. Shostakovich was a russian symphonic composer and I'm Not Scared being their tribute to symphonic music it fits.
I’ve taken the liberty of starting a new thread to help us separate chat about the new EP.
I’ve spent a bit of time re-reading the 2016 edition of Literally. There was obviously unfinished business from the Super songwriting sessions. First, there was the mooted “dark techno” album which...

Well, basically it's Sony Sub. They distribute for some good artists, according to Wikipedia: Girl in Red, Lil Peep, Moby, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, R3HAB, The Wombats ... only to name some artists. Pet Shop Boys make a good addition. :)
So they’re not with Kobalt anymore?
They are. It looks...
Since 2011 BBC4 has been airing Top of the Pops episodes, in chronological order from 1976 onwards. This week the episode originally aired on 08 August 1985 will be shown, which means PSB'S first appearence from November 1985 is just around the corner, and from that point they will be making...

Absolutely fabulous was on this week. I know it's history now but watching it in 'real time', it reminded me why it's still their biggest mistake. You've got The Prodigy entering the top ten with the mighty No Good, Pulp on the next show with the peerless Babies and here's Neil and Chris with an...

So, George and Matthew performed Friendly Fire from Closer to Heaven with a preamble that the show had good songs but some really awful reviews. George then proceeded to read some extracts from the worst ones!
The rendition was done completely straight as it were with George on a stool and Mstthew...
Hi! Hope you are all well. This weeks What's on Tv magazine - page 8. There is a small pic of PSB's and they are going to be joining Dermot O'Leary (In a London cinema) for BBC2's Reel Stories: Pet Shop Boys. Don't know when though. - It will be soon. :D

Anyone who tunes in expecting them to still look like that is in for a surprise…
Maybe this was discussed/mentioned before, but if that´s the case, I missed the conversation!
Trying to make some order on my digital collection, and deleting duplicates, I found that many mixes of Before , like the:
Extended mix 8:47
Hed Boy mix 7:35
Hed Boys dub 4:55
..are credited as being...

They also mislabelled the Classic Paradise Mix as Danny Tenaglia Classic Paradise Mix on the PopArt Mix CD.
Wow... I mean... let's admit it relentless is truly a gem, I'ts quite a masterpiece, it's probably the most consistent piece of work (with Battleship) that the Boys have ever done?!?

as an experiment, i've created very VERY relentless.
its an instrumental version of the other 5 songs, without vocals,
and segued them into each other, its about a half hour long.
its nice ambient, background sounding. i enjoyed making it.
I hate to say it but it seems they're youth has run out. Their last album was a sign of their demise with doomed to hell songs like Burning The Heather and Will-O-The Wisp. Perhaps they will be forgotten in the back passages of time. I suppose their time is over and they can no longer get...

I remember the days when people here asked if Chris was gay.
Bohemians talking about her sexual affair with Neil while he was talking on an interview how many times he felt harassed by women.
Happy days!
What on earth has this got to do with the subject of PSB retiring..?
Verse 1:
In a world of endless screens
Our hearts are numb and our minds are mean
We're chasing shadows in the night
Searching for meaning in a synthetic life
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams...

I've been blown away by the new tech Voice AI where it can allow anyone to talk into a microphone and the voice that comes out is the voice of pretty much anyone...famous or not. I even saw that DJ in concert rapping with Eminem's voice. his voice went in....and the voice that came out...was...
Was it worth it is one of my favorourite songs, but a lot of fans and the PSB themselves don't seem to hold in high regard.
I think it's strange they released only one cd-single / 12 at the time. Maybe this hurt Was it worth it's chart position. All singles from Behaviour and DJ Culture already got...

With good taste. With record sales. With air play.
I have been a fan since West End Girls and the boys rarely put a foot wrong, in my opinion.
However, during 37 years there are bound to be a few lapses in quality…
Songs that I have no reason to ever listen again and should have relegated to obscure 12 inch tracks are:

I'm surprised noboy mentioned the bloody ballet.
Anyway songs like What keeps... and Soup and Atom splitting are part of a context/concept. They are thus not bad per se. Sobgs like The Only One on the other hand..
I know it's a difficult question, really difficult. Because Neil and Chris are not young boys any longer. But I think PSB should try to surprise with a new sound for the new album. Something really different even in a conceptual way. Of course, they are PSB but I see they feel too much confortable...

I heard some songs of jessie ware and others given here and it's really good, however i expect more from the boys.
Burning the heather blew my mind with its atmosphere, deep neil voice, and odd lyrics. When they hired Andrew Dawson, i thought there would be more rap elements and they did a new...
There’s a theory that Shakespeare’s comedies end with a wedding, while his tragedies end with a funeral. It’s interesting to apply this to PSB albums. So many of them finish with one or the other, particularly if you expand the notion of a wedding to include celebrations and affirmations of hope...

I always thought that I might have the instrumental of Invisible.
A while ago someone posted a “eurodance” song that had the exact melody of Absolutely fabulous and I believe also proceeded it in its publishing. Anyone recall the song?

I just love that era of eurodance and love that Very was so steeped in it.
The track listing for Noel Gallagher's upcoming new album, Council Skies has leaked and there's a PSB 12 remix of a track called Think Of A Number.. Screenshot_20230117-075422.png

Speaking of NG and the Pets, I really appreciated their messages of condolences following the death of Steve Mackey last week, the bassist in my favourite group, Pulp.
U2 - Discotheque, also their 2011 Glastonbury performance gives a nod to the PSB 'Where the Streets Have No Name' cover
Brandon Flowers - most of his career
Axl Rose - apparently November Rain was influenced by the PSB
La Roux - similar sound and ethic

I was recently thinking about how it wouldn’t surprise me to see some kind of large benefit concert supporting Ukraine. If it ever happens, I can think of a certain duo who may be inclined to participate…
Looks like general/standing tickets are just shy of £90 with booking fee but this is supposed to be a beautiful place to see a concert. Anyone tempted?
Mods, feel free to move to Live section but I thought as its news, most folk will look on the main page.

I think the UK has seen them enough....PSB gets ure butts to Asia now
We deserve more in Asia. Especially after that cancelled Bangkok date :(
I notice that some artists are releasing old singles in either digital formats (e.g. Madonna) or pressing remastered versions of the original era 12 singles (e.g. New Order).
Do you expect Pet Shop Boys to do likewise? And if they do it, do you expect them to just recreate the earlier...

Is there a chance that they use(d) kinda Autotune on Neil's vocals? I mean he sounds much better live nowadays as he did in the past. Not only compared to his Rent vocals during the Performance tour. Listen to the radio broadcast and ask the question again...
A letter written by Pet Shop Boys star Neil Tennant to Janice Long thanking the then Radio 1 DJ for playing an early version of the band’s smash hit single West End Girls has been discovered in an Altrincham record shop.

Interestingly Chris wore an orange one at early Electric tour shows but switched to the more familiar orange baseball cap. Maybe it was too hot under there!

Thanks, @rashomon! I do think those SUPER colors look powerful together on FLARE. I guess HOTSPOT's cover is indeed the most dour of their catalog. I don't fault their choice of it, though. It suits the chromatics of the album. And a shadowy reflection in metal makes a fitting portrait of our...
Recentrly I put the Ab-fab maxi in the player and it dawned on me that the Dull Soulles Dance Music mix is by the PSB themselves. I sort of always assumed (by ignorance) that it was a mix by someone else.
But the mix is basically a song on its own. It bares little resemblance to the original track....

In one of the previous Annually's Neil said they wanted to release it in a proper produced album. They were thinking of Trevor Horn, which would make sense.
