I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...
So there is that Soft Cell interview in Electronic Sound magazine (issue 86, march? 2022) with minor PSB references here and there, and announces 'Happiness Not Included' upcoming album is due for release by BMG in the spring, along with a new version of 'Purple Zone' by Soft Cell and PSB. (p.43)...

The new edition of Annually might give us more clues, but we’re at what would usually be a point of inflection in the PSB journey. Roughly every 10 years Pet Shop Boys rip up their template and redefine what PSB can be. Behaviour, Release and Elysium each saw them move into more reflective mood,...

I'm not sure if the Boys are ever going to get more pastoral than Burning the Heather, but who knows.
Google.com is dedicating the day to Dusty! How special.
Celebrating Dusty Springfield
Today's Doodle celebrates British singer and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Dusty Springfield who is widely considered one of the most significant performers of her time.
Over the extended weekend Swedish radio channel Star FM did a top 600 of the best songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s as voted by the listeners (I'm not sure of how the voting was done but at least done by online voting in a form). Lo and behold, Pet Shop Boys came in as number one with Always on My...

Pet Shop Boys over ABBA in Sweden?! That's an accomplishment
Unity tour poster arrived this morning (number 166) - it’s beautiful! Did anyone else order one? Slightly weird it’s been signed and numbered on the back though - probably so not to spoil the aesthetics…

I’ve ordered it but haven’t received it yet. Will sit well alongside the silver Unity tour poster.
I am not a native English speaker, so I wondered what the ‘by Oct 31st’ means? So I know if I can still send a letter today, Oct 31st?
Last post
These were the initial responses:
Go ahead and send the email today. The only way you'll ever know that they have read it is if your question is published.
Quite obnoxious way to treat a non-native english speaker and a fellow pethead in need.
I’m guessing people labelling this “bad and embarrassing” aren’t British? SM:TV on Saturday mornings was brilliant. The Chums sketch that they had every week was meant to be like this. The fact that the Boys even appeared on something like this would be because Ant and Dec would have personally...
There is a 1985 PSB album that could have been/that never were. The gap between leaving Bobby O and the actual Please sessions is quite interesting. They recorded a number of songs that could've been their Parlophone debut. Over the years we've gotten most of them on other releases, but...

If they’d done that they’d of had a very different career.
Not sure when Don't Make Me Wait was release in 1988, but it doesn't give a lot of time for either side to hear and then react, esp given how slow media was to release back then. Unless someone was pre-touring their future single?
Letters for Annually
We will soon start preparing the 2023 edition of “Annually” which, as ever, will include a selection of your letters answered by PSB. So, if you have a question for Chris and Neil, send it in an email with the subject Annually letters by Monday, October 31st,...

If they do a CD...how about Musik with Neil's vocals?
Marc performed a great cover of Rent this evening at Cadogan Hall with piano accompaniment from Chris (Braide!) saying beforehand that it was a song he wished he'd written and afterwards that he's always jealous of it!

Yes, a bit sad that so many folk were unaware of it despite its relative popularity this year (allowing for the fact that it's impossible to have hits anymore).
Hopefully a recording from the tour is released at a later date. He's very prolific at releasing albums be they new material, reissues...
Pet Shop Boys are delighted to announce that they will be headlining Edinburgh's celebrations with a special Dreamworld show on New Year's Eve 2022! Tickets for the Concert in the Gardens go on sale at 10am on Friday, Oct 28
In fact, that's why some years ago I ask someone to unify the reprise with the full length 7 original version of Opportunities from further listenings. It works amazingly well for me, just listening the two cocktail party in the same track like it was a full version of the song. :D :D :D
Hi, I appreciate this topic would have been deliberated on numerous occasions, however, can anyone advise if there's any merit for the 2018 remasters over the 2001 releases for Please through to Bilingual?
I have the 2001 remasters and they sound fab but I wondered if the 2018 remasters surpassed...

PSB have such a fantastic catalogue to play with. They'll release this all again at some point no doubt
I presume the Pop Kids who produced this birthday track for Chris is Affy, Claire and Simon? Not sure who Thomas Stone is? Sounds like a Pete Gleadall production. Quite a fun track

To follow on from this, the 3 of them did an Instagram Live on Afrika’s account the other day, answering a few questions etc just before they went on stage. One quite heavy hint that the Unity tour was in discussions to visit Australia and down under, which I’m sure will please many on this forum...
I’m sure a little while back someone posted a new higher quality version of PSB first ever U.K. tv appearance, performing Opportunities on Poparound. But I just can’t find the thread or the video anywhere?
Can anyone link me to this please?
Many thanks

The David Bowie film (2022) starts with Hallo Spaceboy!
Almost the entirety plays out, including Neil's verse, whilst various Bowie & scene setting imagery is shown.
Really incredible and it's an honour to PSB to be featured not only in the film but right at the start.

Saw the film today, really thought provoking and I like the way that major themes are explored, childhood, fame, sexuality, religion etc.
There's a new Moonage Daydream edit of Hallo Spaceboy released for streaming.
Firstly, let me make it clear that I do not not watch this programme. :shifty:
Just saw this on Twitter.....

Hi friends, I was wondering if anyone on here who has footage of PSB's Release tour happened to film any of their support Telepopmusik?

In this great interview from 1988 Neil talks about what they were hoping for in the beginning. To be a cult dance group , he says around the 01:30-mark. Isn't that what they have become now?

Not really. They still have a huge crossover audience for live tours etc.
From the lack of mention on the official site about the seismic news this week we can make our own judgment on the Boys’ position on the monarchy.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everybody has one but get them out in public and you've got a problem.
So obviously we all know Chris Heath wrote a third Pet Shop Boys book documenting the Discovery tour, which was ultimately vetoed by Neil and Chris on content grounds. Do we know that that involved? Reading between the lines in the Dreamworld tour program, I'm guessing sex and drugs (didn't Neil...

Yeah, I didn't know that was a pre-requisite to being a big fan of their work or that it gives a carte blanche to their fans to do the same. I do own a signed copy of Literally , but it describes events from before I was born, you can imagine the references being a bit lost on me.
We (Most of us) already know about Actually being originally called Jealousy on some early USA it's a sin releases but did anyone know about Disco One , with 7 tracks, not 6?
I wonder how many more title errors are out there?

Greetings,
The 7 version sounds like walking through a swanky furniture store, and the music doesn't even remotely fit the lyrical themes.
The Alternative version (and the 12 version) have the appropriate hardness and street edge.
Retro :)
The 7'' version sounds like nothing else in the PSB...
Just recently I find out about this project of collaboration...and that Dieter talked seriously about it on a press conference in Estonia, 1998.
Was it a real project, or something that happened only on Dieter's head?

Nothing wrong with a bit of Modern Talking. Yes, there a bit “samey” and have INCREDIBLY cheesy videos but, if you like europop, then they deliver.
Recentrly I put the Ab-fab maxi in the player and it dawned on me that the Dull Soulles Dance Music mix is by the PSB themselves. I sort of always assumed (by ignorance) that it was a mix by someone else.
But the mix is basically a song on its own. It bares little resemblance to the original track....

When the track finally pays off it’s we’ll worth it. Love it.
It’s always sounded like “dull soulless daw-te” to me. There aren’t nearly enough syllables present for “dance music”
Can anyone tell me who performs Go West as used in the German film Sommersturm ( Summer Storm in English) ? It is a very PSB-sounding version, but not actually the PSB version.
I presume that the filmmakers couldn't get the rights to use the PSB recording but got permission from the original...

I know this thread is really old, but as I see it all answers were false.
The correct answer to that question is: it was the german Band Nova International with their covor version of go west

It drives me crazy that we never get to hear the 1981-1984 recordings.
I'm sure they had more to put on the Please FL
and all those great demoes and recording from the basement in Camden
and when are they going to come to an agreement with Bobby O and release that material?
I'm impatiently waiting...

If there is anything of decent quality it will probably be released when Chris and Neil “retire”. They held back their first tv appearance for the life in pop dvd.
If there is ever going to be a box set release anything left in the vaults will be released. Possibly.
The Being Boring footage is fascinating. That whole area of London now is all gentrified and costs a fortune to live there. In the 70s (and even into the late 80s) it was a total dump.
Pet Shop Boys recently remixed, “Insanely Alive”, a song by artist Wolfgang Tillmans from his recent album, Moon in Earthlight”. A 12-inch single which includes the PSB Maxi Mix and the PSB Radio Edit will be released on May 20th and is now available for pre-order. More...

I know a Roland JD 800 was used for Pet Shop Boys - Can you forgive her? I did read the JP 8000 was a popular Synth as well with other 90s groups like Prodigy, it also mentioned Pet Shop Boys too.
Does anyone have any idea what PSB songs have the Roland JP 8000 played on them?
