In the last days I recognise some emails about Tickets for PSB@ROH which I THINK could be a money trap. After we have to hold this email open for user requests and alerts via the contact link (at the...

Pet Shop Boys | BEDLAM
I kept thinking about comments from @Ramzy, @retrofuturist, @telys, and @jasonjohn, about these songs as a group not telling a consistent tale, being too stylistically erratic, being overly long as a collection, and not imparting enough of Neil's angle on life. Pressing...
Pet Shop Boys have recently passed 2 million followers on Spotify and 1 million followers on YouTube! Thanks to everyone who’s been listening to our music. xx

I'll reply to each statement in order:
- I know O Son do Camiño was broadcast on Spanish TV. A lot of international Petheads managed to watch it live because we organized streaming parties, something no local fans decided to help us with. Besides that, both Brazil and Argentina also had...
There haven't been all that many remixes... so few in fact that we can fit them in a single poll, so here we go!

Boy Harsher sounds nice and cool at first, but then when you realize it's just an eternal loop of music with just the vocals and some synth lines on top, it loses its charm for me. Also the fem voices and the early fade out as a lazy and not creative way of ending it are missed points for me.
The...
Hey there! Today is the last full day of my current Rating Project poll on the six most recent songs released by the Pet Shop Boys. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my Commentary site at and make your choices right there on my home page, rating these songs on a scale...
My apologies if this has already been covered as there's so many topics here.
Just wondering what the resident PSB experts thought of James Ford's production of Nonetheless. The boys themselves kept throwing around the word fresh in interviews.
I will say, James Ford's production definitely got...
I came across this again on youtube,I posted it years ago here, thought I'd post it again,

Both songs suck equally.
LOL :) The best thing that can be said about New York city boy. What a nightmare :)
I was just listening Twenty something and came up with this question since it happens to me right after the last verse.
I always get goosebumps because I can't process how beautiful is that bit. (From 3:30 to 3:41 on the album version)
But there are other examples:
- The final build up of To step...

I am usually a very self-disciplined person. I did not cry a single tear in my father's funeral and when I lost two beloved friends in the past...
But PSB songs are a different story...I still do not cry (maybe I am lacking tear glands) but they haunt me to the point of depression.

All those non-PSB fans googling for a best of... collection, and probably typing in ultimate - Smash , Discography and PopArt don't immediately spring to mind as best of collection titles. Then it self perpetuates online.
Speaking of which, maybe the next PSB album should be called Perpetuity ....
Does anyone else watch the addictive and compelling show “Industry” which airs on HBO and Max here in the U.S.? It’s about relationships, power, sex and back-stabbing at a huge investment bank in London. I came a little late to it and I’m currently near the end of its third season.
Anyway, this...

Weird, I just heard about this show this morning with people likening it to This Life , the lawyers-living-together TV drama in the 90s.
A rather surprising IG-story PSB mention from Kim Nam-joon of the Korean K-Pop band BTS. More commonly known as RM to his 46.9 million(!!) Instagram followers.
Funnily enough, PSB posted a picture today also, celebrating 2,000,000 followers on Spotify. Wonder if they'll get some new BTS-Army...

I wondered if, as well as having to wait to get permission to put the 'Imagine' documentary on there, maybe they also delayed the release in order to record another more recent night of the tour including the 'Nonetheless' tracks - then we'd get the Copenhagen night with the 'Hotspot' tracks from...
I’ve seen this 12” pop up online a few times now and not sure if it’s a genuine official 1984 release? It’s on ZYX records which produced all those terrible remixes in ‘86 and ‘88. The cover says Extended Mix 5.00 but isn’t the original 1984 extended mix nearly 8 mins in length? It has ‘Pet Shop...

I'd argue the Belgium edition (red and blue, unique photo of them) is The One, and the single mix being the Kordak version (the Bobby 'O' one is frankly a mess).
On that Belgium ‘speakers’ 12” - isn’t the short version of OMC on that the Kordak mix?
Just seen a trailer for this and it had the 12”mix of Always On My Mind featured heavily. I wonder if this is the tv programme that Angela spoke about last year?

Can anyone help me identify a track with a very similar hook to ‘Closer to Heaven’?
It dates from 1984 or before and was on a tape made by a New York pal of the manager whose London bar I worked in with what was being played in NY clubs at the time.
What’s the first Pet Shop Boys music you’ve played or going to play this year?
I’ve just given “Electric” a very loud airing this morning
I know it divides us, but it’s a cracking set of tunes

Absolutely. I always talk about the Annuallys and the wealth of information it gives when I talk with friends about music.
Introduction.
Several West End Girls remixes produced by Boby O after 1984 contain lyrics that are not from the original 1984 West End Girls:
Looking left, turning right, 'Cause money's short and time is tight / If we don't find the right solution, Will there be a revolution?
For example, this...

Hi, I know there are some acetates on Discogs but is there a website with details of Pet Shop Boys/PSB related acetates that feature unreleased mixes/versions? I know the odd one pops up on eBay too but just wondering if any PSB superfan has a site or page that documents such acetates?

Greetings,
2. … and equally unsurprisingly, Miserere secured the biggest number of 23s with 16 – 69% of us think it’s the worst song (or “song”) of the era. Consensus!
I don't understand this one at all, it's a terrific track. But then again, the overall quality of the era is so high....
Hope you all are doing well.
Encouraged by your feedback from my Drunk remix I thought I'd share this new one.
Any feedback is always appreciated, thanks!

Excellent work again. You have such an ear for melody, and draw something different out of the music while maintaining the spirit of the original.
Thank you so much for those very kind words, appreciate it! :D

I’m sure Neil and Chris haven’t yet even begun thinking about their next album, but I’m clearly already winding down for Christmas and I can’t help wondering where they’ll turn next. We know for sure that there’s no Electric-style fast-follower album ready to go - Neil ruled out as much at the...

I recently bought the Streets/Seriously CD single for a couple of quid because I'd never heard the classical reprise and no longer had the extended mix of the latter track anywhere. But what's most interested me about it is the version of Streets that plays as track 1. It's not labelled as a...

As for So Hard, the Extended Dance Mix is the only one I ever listen to, the harder snares being brought forward in the mix and the absolutely gorgeous breakdown in the middle where it gradually goes to just the wobbly warm baseline before building up again.

It’s a puzzle, not a quiz. A fiendishly difficult puzzle. Also you’ve missed some of the vowels from the album titles in Q5 (Actually and Introspective both need their initial letters adding) which tips that question from fiendish to literally impossible if your working is based on the surrounding...
I think I'm in love... this has been on repeat all afternoon. Yes, it's slight, inconsequential, b-side material. But dear God, is it an off-kilter, highly unusual earworm crying out for a much longer remix.
What is said in the background at 2:32, anyone make it out? Big Boy ? Sounds like Chris?

I've long been perplexed by people awarding points out of 10 for Pet Shop Boys songs and albums. I've never understood why people needed 11 rating levels to make a definitive judgment of a track. Even more weird to me are those fractional ratings, say 7.2 out of 10. Can people really break down...

I always saw PSB as FGTH part two, but with a slightly better selection of songs( their 1986-88 output).
Frankie were one of the better bands from the 1981-84 era of New Pop, and I think they were much better than the likes of Tears for Fears or the god awful Soft Cell.
Here’s a playlist project I’ve completed just in time for the season:

I looked through my library to see if there was an album’s worth of PSB tracks resonant with the themes and motifs of Christmas and winter and found there indeed was. It makes for...
