Elysium vocals

It's been probably discussed before, but does anyone else find the Elysium era vocals particularly strange? I know they were going for a smooth sound, but it ended up sounding clunky and weird on that area, a bit like the 1989 tour thing with the black backing singers doing all the harmonies. Been l...

I’d like to see the next album produced by Joey Negro
My dream too. He could give them back the lush disco/britfunk sound they need now. Both Dawson and Price made them sound too dry.

Yeah - noticed that too. It is good as an instrumental.
So is the rest of the instrumentals. There's a lot of nuances hidden behind vocals.

After "Did you see me coming?" nothing surprises me anymore.

Re: Are we content ?

Once they stop I hope there'll be regular archival releases over time, even if it means scraping the bottom of the barrel a little. I don't like the idea of a sudden "this is it, nothing more".

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book

I don’t quite understand the reason behind this book. Who is it aimed at ? Are fans going to buy it just because it’s a Psb item? Is your average music fan going to buy it when all the lyrics are readily available on the psb site ? I see it as a test. If it works we might see more of that in the fu...

And only eight years since Ultimate.....
Yeah I forgot about that, see how my fandom is waning  But Ultimate didn't have a vinyl edition, did it? Besides it felt like a complete Parlophone/EMI thing, whereas PopArt seemed to have a little more input from PSB...

GH on vinyl?

Moving on from the reissues thread, I believe that the next step should be a vinyl edition of a new GH. I'd really like to get the singles in that format without having to look for Discography or PopArt LPs on Discogs. It's a sort of a gap in the catalogue now, even though they don't seem to like GH...

Re: Reissues project

If it includes Relentless surely they would have mentioned it, wouldn't they? The original recording is so layered it probably needs 2 discs in order to sound better. And possible sound quality issues on such a recording might be the reason why they left it as the final release of the set.

Re: Strange feeling...

...Been a fan since '93 and today I gave away for the first time a PSB item (that being "Pandemonium", which I never liked at all). That plus having yet to buy the new FLs gives me a strange feeling about my loyalty... So you still have a copy of Disco 2?! Or Absolutely Fabulous? Or New York City B...

Re: Strange feeling...

Never liked "Pandemonium" for that very reason - studio vocals are very up in the mix and the effect is so annoying. When I get a live album I want to hear clear live vocals... The FLs - I bought mp3s of the "new" stuff but there's really nothing earth-shattering there, except for "Ring Road", which...

Re: Pet Shop Boys Night on BBC Four?

Not sure I'd like to hear again Neil recalling how they met, "and the rest is history".Documentaries and interviews and reissues have been pretty exhaustive now. Having said that, "Exhaustive" could be a good title for such a documentary, or even for the planned final box set!

Re: Disco 2 reissue on vinyl ??

Disco 1 definitely deserves a remaster. It's an important page of their catalogue, not just for its concept, but also because in some ways it merges better than "Please" their european dance sensibility and their early american influences. Disco 2 makes sense if combined with Relentless, while volum...
