Re: That Crossover Moment.....

From the first time I've heard It's a Sin on the radio in 1987, as an 11 year old, I've become a hardcore fan. I've never heard anything that is at the same time so melodic, sophisticated and powerful. Little did I know that 33 years later they would still be releasing incredible music. I re...

Re: That Crossover Moment.....

My 16th Birthday (March 1986) and playing ‘Please’ for the first time. I’d never heard anything like ‘Two divided by zero’ before. I was hooked.

Re: Next single? (Will there be one?)

I know its been said lots but there really hasn't been a better time for either Disco 5 or more excitedly Introspective 2. Six mixes (3 new Hotspot mixes, 2 classic songs with new arrangements (presumably already done for the tour) and a 7 minute new song which could be the single. I think a second ...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

I think over time I've tended to dismiss West End girls as the 'populist' song and that the really interesting PSB stuff is below the waterline. The Smithsonian version (possibly done because they knew of this list?) has reignited my love of this song. In my brief foray as a pop star (playing the Ch...

Re: Which song Pet Shop Boys could cover in the future?

Ella Fitzgerald - Summertime.

Slow chilled-out Ibiza beats to start, building to a proper arms aloft house piano / everything but the kitchen sink production.

Yes please.

Re: Literally and Versus America musings.

I've been meaning to start a thread on the content of the books rather than a thread on the distribution of them, so I'm glad someone has done that for me. I too re-read them recently (the original versions) and found them really interesting and the prefect way to block out lockdown for a few hours....

Re: The best remix ever

The Rough Mix of 'You Know Where You Went Wrong was one of the points that I realised PSB were different to other bands - who bothers completely remixing B-sides? - and as a result it I will have a soft spot for it. I also love the Trouser Enthusiasts mixes, the 'Possibly More Mix' of Did You See Me...

Re: Just listened to Relentless - it's not very good

Its great that this forum has a range of views - but I’m amazed that Relentless can be described as “not very good”. I toyed with writing a 500 word rebuttal but instead I realised that I mainly feel sorry for the OP that he doesn’t find it one of the best bits of the PSB cannon. I too listened agai...

Re: Bring him back - I know who I want to produce the next album

I'd love them to do something with Rick Smith and Karl Hyde from Underworld. I think they would have a very similar dynamic and it would be great to hear what a ''pop' album and 'harder dance' album would sound like. An Underworld/Relentless 2 album would be very exciting. Plus a New Order/PSB/Under...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Remember, the elaborate music video for Heart was filmed for It Couldn't Happen Here but it didn't fit in. So compare the music video for Always On My Mind to the section in the movie, then you can imagine what the section for Heart would be. Presumably complete with dialogue. Let's not forget, sta...

Re: Where the streets have no love ...

I recall that at the time they talked about this being part of a “Rock Classics” EP, featuring Hi-NRG covers of famous rock songs. I wonder what the other songs would have been? Wasn’t going to be one from each decade? I seem to remember Bohemian Rhapsody was going to be one of them, but that might...
