Re: Phil Harding on his PSB remixes

Thanks for this. Really interesting. Never heard the Phil Harding mix before and I am really surprised at how it's the basis of the Introspective version. I always assumed (wrongly) that was an entirely new mix/recording. Good mix though I tend to agree that the Introspective version remains the def...

Re: PSB are quieter than usual

:D Good work Minimal! I don’t think PSB are that quiet you know. It’s not like 1992 or 1998. We’ve had a steady trickle of things. But the pandemic has broken the recent rhythm of an album followed by an extensive tour. If the pandemic hadn’t happened they would have spent 2020 and 2021 touring. And...

Re: BBC2 Takeover

Agree- Chemical Brothers song was great. There was a really nice mix of tracks across the whole show. A bit more chat from them would have been nice though. But then again I have always been of the view that Neil and Chris should have their own regular TV/radio show!

I had totally forgotten about this appearance. Was it the Release era? They did it incredibly well.

Re: PSB on BBC1 on New Year's Eve

Nice to see them at the start of the new year. Thought they did a good performance. And both looking good- though it makes me chuckle how Chris has adopted the face mask as a way to destroy disguise himself even more! Every (pandemic) cloud has a silver lining!

Re: Anything?

1992 was pretty sparse too. They did the Hacienda gig and the Performance video but I think that was about it. I guess there was the Electronic single and the aborted Go West single too. But it was a very quiet year indeed. As for what comes next, I think we will see a new album next year. Maybe not...

Re: Longevity from a fan perspective

I agree entirely. I have often thought back to my 8 year old self and what made me decide to back PSB in 1987 over the other groups of the time. As fans we have had tremendous bang for our buck over the past 35 years. There’s never been a gap of more than 4 years between albums and every year has ha...

Re: News: "Chris and Neil have been at their homes, writing new songs and working on music for a new theatre production"

Good to see you back Drico! I am sure they have been writing loads during lockdown. What else is there to do? I imagine that a large part of their next album is now written. The question more is when we will hear any of it. I hope they put a new album out before they head off on the Dreamworld Tour ...

Re: Memory of the...past

What a great idea for a thread. I have bumped into them a few times around London but amazingly never intentionally. Whenever I go to gigs and what have you I never actually manage to meet them let alone see them. But over the years I have had a few chance encounters: - First time was in a restauran...

Re: New Album Cover..?

My i-tunes pre-order on my phone has automatically updated with this image. Been like that for a couple of days now. I'm guessing it is the album cover then?

I like it. Suggests a dark and moody album to me.

Re: 2 albums?

Perhaps a slightly random (and I hope wrong) thought but could the new album be a double album- one half new songs the other half greatest hits? I seem to recall Michael Jackson did something like that with History.

Re: September single...???

It sounds very contemporary. To the extent that it almost doesn't sound like PSB. And it's catchy as hell. Not a bad first single. But right now to me it's nowhere near as good as Vocal or The Pop Kids.

Re: September single...???

I think there is still a strategy to their releases. I imagine they want a second Number 1 album. And putting an album out in January is a deliberate marketing ploy to get some cut through in what is otherwise a pretty quiet month. And with that in mind (and the fact that it won't be a complete surp...

Re: What's the most impressive thing PSB have done?

Their sheer musical diversity. They can compose something completely clubby one minute, pure pop the next, lush ballads, show tunes, a musical, a film score, a ballet and so on and so on.
