Re: IT COULDN’T HAPPEN HERE BLU-RAY SCORE A SEMITONE LOWER

The weird thing is that, although the DVD plays at a faster speed than the Blu Ray disc, the songs are still pitched too low - try playing the original album version of ICHH alongside the soundtrack version at the start of the film...the pitch is lower (not as much as the Blu Ray, but it's still lo...

Re: IT COULDN’T HAPPEN HERE BLU-RAY SCORE A SEMITONE LOWER

I was wondering if this was how the original score was presented, with the songs maybe being pitched or slowed to better suit the cues and progression of the film’s edit? Or is it possibly an oversight or mistake? We don't know with 100% certainty but, on the face of it, the film was filmed and edi...

They have seen the forum. Neil has described it as "bitchy" in the past
I thought he used some form of the word "churlish".

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

it strangely seems that who made the music-video cut had access to more footage than the shots used on the movie...or there were alternate cuts of the movie around! The music-video was out there in December 1987, wasn't it? Whereas the movie wasn't ready until at least April 1988. So it wasn't the ...

Re: That Crossover Moment.....

I did not have that moment. Pre-1993 whatever PSB song I heard on the radio or saw on TV seemed nothing more than a regular pop noise. Didn't pull any strings, didn't touch any nerves at all. Maybe I was too young. Then Can you forgiver her? came out and put it all upside down. I started searching f...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Unless you are going back to the 16fps silent era pretty much everything on film is shot at 24fps. Well, the film cameras were not built locked to 24fps and allowed switch to 25fps didn't they? Apart from the speed of PSB music, speech and movements in the film, there is another hint as to why the ...

I second that. Messages only go out of the Outbox when they are opened by the recipient (which may never happen).

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Well it depends on what you see as the right frame rate. The bluray release replicates the theatrical release at the time. That the later PAL VHS was faster (and thus shorter) is irrelevant I would say, as that was not the theatrical release. And if you want a replication of the PAL video release y...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Also tried to look around to see if there is a way to avoid re-encoding but what I always found online is that there is no way...always a re-encoding must be done...even with those mkv tools...but... On wich kind of software do you neeed to enter all that technical details to get the correct frame ...

Or is it playing 24 frames every 0.96 seconds instead?
That's exactly what it does. All nice and clean :)

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

If you're ripping this to mkv files, I believe you can edit the header files to change the duration for playback. I've not done this myself but there is a setting for it, and I have used it to fix aspect ratio issues on a few files. The value is set for nanoseconds. Not sure about headers but I've ...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Got my copy today and had a quick look at the technical traits of the contents. All the DVD content is 25 fps. All the Blu-ray content is 24 fps (and that is precisely 24, not 23.976) Now, the funniest (and most ridiculous) part is that it's not just the film itself that runs 4% longer on the Blu-ra...

Re: Video Remasters

It's the middle stuff that's problematic - stuff like Can You Forgive Her, which is shot on film but involves a ton CG work, which at the time would have been rendered in CG. Those videos will never be true HD unless the CG files can be found and re-exported with HD textures. Never going to happen....

They should have instructed the AI to generate some facial pimples and pores that audience could enjoy noticing on a 4K screen . Regarding the homoerotic "references" in Domino dancing — I still don't get them. The "fight" in the sea waves indeed looks unconvincing and more resembling kids in a...
